Yup.

Got me at a really bad time, and I just sat at my PC bawling like a baby. Now, every time I hear it again, it still kinda makes me twitch inside. A beautiful piece.

I've never actually cried to this song, but, man, it kicks me in the nuts every. single. time. I couldn't tell you what exactly it is that gets me, but the feeling is a whole lot like having a really bad, regretful argument or something similarly unsettling. I guess 'haunting' is the best word I can come up with to describe my feelings on this song. Still, an amazing song.

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Only once, Rain song by a band called COLD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTNSEOhIxI4

I once lost a very close friend, and I heard this song the same day, it just made me bawl my eyes out.

EDIT: It just made me cry a little... thinking about her. *sigh*

By itself, I've never had a song make me cry. But sometimes I do when I listen to the albums Quadrophenia or The Wall. Cats in the Cradle came really close though.

Certainly I've inferred an understanding of my own at-times-bleak emotions onto music.

No, never. I am a manly man.

The closest I've ever got was a Manowar song. Which is really weird.
i could see a couple doing that, was it by any chance the song of courage or master of the wind?

This almost every time. It's a song written by one of the band members for his 87 year old grandfather to his wife. That is not the most touching part, the love letter actually read out by the grandfather really get to me as it sounds like he is making one final gesture of love. I know many people who have cried at this song. Beautiful.

To a lesser extent (only once] this:

Yeah, I'm a giant pussy. Here are some of the songs that have made me cry:

Hurt- Johnny Cash

Drift Away- Dobie Gray

Danger Line & Fiction- Avenged Sevenfold

And, er... well...

The song playing over the end credits of Pokemon Gold Version.

Depends on my mood at the time, really. Some songs that can get me a bit teary sometimes though, no matter what mood I'm in:

Yesterday - Beatles
Mad World - Gary Jules
Lonely Day - System of a Down
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Hurt - Johnny Cash or NiN versions
Cat's in the Cradle - Harry? Chapin
Last Kiss - I like Pearl Jam's version

FYI, to ward off the inevitable "men don't cry" comments...having emotions doesn't mean you're not a man, doing what needs to be done despite those emotions is what makes you a man.

**edit - Also, the instrumental Adagio for Strings, or as most people know it, "that song from Platoon".

On their own, no, but in certain situations some songs can set me off, lol.

E.G. driving home after a particularly hard breakup, my MP3 decided to shuffle on this little ditty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaLoBdqcvVY (sorry, I don't know how to embed)

I had to pull over :(

That is all. But i have to say the studio version of it is maybe even better.

But it is more: watery eyes... not real crying. But it is sad. (He wrote that song for his dead mother).

When my first serious relationship ended. This one was a definite one to bring tears to my eyes. Still chokes me a little now.
