Bought it on Steam. Seeing that I didn't even hestitate, great bargain that the game ist, I'm kind of puzzled where all the pirating comes from. Maybe it has to do with the gameplay being so different, so that people didn't want to spend money on it - but then, it had a demo, for Christ's sake. Some other reason might be the weird release scheme - shelf date and availability in other countries than the US lagged significantly behind the initial release.
But was it actually pirated that much? I know 2DBoy published that shockingly high number, but that was the piracy RATE. And did they say anything about how much money they made - or lost?
Oh, and something different: I know they came up with the number by dividing unique Tower-of-Goo-IPs by total sales, but... I wonder if that turns up a proper result. I had the demo, and I used Tower of Goo.... hmmm..... that would have made me a factor in the equation without buying OR pirating the game... or have I gotten anything wrong?
