When Halo first came out I couldn't care.

When Halo 2 was being shouted at every rooftop for being the greatest thing since Blue Turtle Shells, I was despising it. But time after time my friends were telling me how good it was...

That birthday, I got Halo 2.

I'm back to having a love/hate relationship with Halo.

But I'll tell you something, I was just playing Halo 3's online multiplayer a couple hours ago.

I also got suckered by one of those friends to start playing WoW. I canceled my subscription almost a month now. =]

Another told em to buy Mass Effect and Too Human.

No, because I don't listen to other people's opinions. I'll hear what they have to say, then promptly ignore them and find things out for myself.

Off topic: I totally thought the name of this thread was "Have you ever been convicted of a f{elony?}" (The part in {} was cut off and assumed) when I saw it in the recent posts thing.

I remember my first exposure to rabid fanboys back in the ol' days of the N64/PS1/Saturn. And holy crap, you wouldn't believe the damage hearing their arguments did to any lingering faith I had in humanity.

When I was a kid I liked hanging out with the kid down the street because he had a sega genesis and I didn't. He liked hanging out with me because I had a super nintendo. We liked playing video games and didn't really care about the relative differences of the systems because we were bored and just wanted to have fun.

Mainly b/c I have been for a select few games, but tbh, not often enough to warrant much of an answer in the positive direction in the polls.... Problem is: I'm not into many games which have a heavy fanboy following...

I used to be a pretty heavy Nintendo fanboy, but I saw the light after purchasing the original Xbox. Now I'm just a gamer with no particular fanboy affiliation. I still have never and will never purchase a Playstation.

I was harcore playstation fan back in the day (youg kid, only one console) but as you grow up you can learn to appreciate all types of gaming. I dont belive you are a true gamer if you wont play a certain console out of ignorance

As a fanboy of video games in general I must say, no.
Same, I might show a Microsoft/Nintendo preference but I've no particular problem with the good things Sony's done or any rose-tinted glasses for the bad things MS/Ninty have done.

But I am fond of fried fanboy, supper time!
I'm the same way, I own a ps3 but I hate some of the things sony has done (at the forefront: closing lik-sang) and I probably would've bought a 360 this gen if it wasn't for the rrod thing. It doesn't stop me from enjoying friends' 360s and I might still get one if they ever permanently fix the problem.

Nintendo I probably shouldn't comment on because their stock made me a lot of money.

The root of the topic comes from a guy I work with who, if you're talking about anything to do with computers, will cut you off to make fun of PCs and start talking about how mac is better and everything it does, even if it's not relevant to the conversation at hand. I don't think I've ever conversed with a fanboy personally. I've read through a lot of fanboy crap on game forums and it also reeks of envy or fear of money wasted and is all easily ignorable. This guy is no different however, he manages to convince people to buy apple stuff. I work on mac sometimes and they're fine and everything but i don't see enough of a difference to treat it like a religious experience.

I've never been convinced by any rabid fanboy's, now there are some people who have offered some rather good points.

The bad about fanboys (or girls, as I am a TES and DW/SW fangirl easily) is when they won't take criticism of their interest. When someone speaks ill of TES or DW I do not just say NO:O
I refute them..unless I agree, since even the best games have flaws.

Negative, Zelda still sucks (and nobody realizes it).
If Zelda sucks, but people are being fooled into enjoying it, who's better off?
I...... don't care. I am not sticking around to find out how the boomerang is going to activate a switch in a dungeon that involves wind.

That's your objection? Personally, I would have wondered how a boomerang could spontaneously change direction five times in mid-air, wind or no wind.

No. 90% of fanboys are like are metaphorical zombies. They believe one thing.
Fanboys - "My console is better. Buy one, or you suck!"
Zombies - "Brains....brai.....brains..brains...BRAINS!"

They've convinced me, through trial and error, mind you, that the most satisfying way to kill a fanboy is to rip out their aorta and strangle them with it, effectivley killing them twice. Runners up in this catagory include wood chipper, being bludgeoned with excess amounts of whatever they obsess over and embalming them alive.

Yeah their opinion is just as valid as anyone elses. Just because they like something a whole lot more than anyone else..

Saying you dont listen to them is stupid.. Do you listen to an archeologist because hes a fanboy of ancient Egypt.

Yes, any time I took the word of anyone who suggested anything that has any ties to Sega might be remotely worth spending money on.

I rented and played through Halo 3 because of the fanboy/haters. Found myself right in the middle. Sure is lonely in the middle.

I'm pretty sure I am one..... so I don't know. I like to just think I'm a devout fan though, nothing more. I think by now it's pretty obvious what game I am a major fan of.
To answer your question though, no I don't think so. I never allow others to influence my life. I make my own decisions, be who I am not what's cool.
