No. I thought I was once, but then I remembered our species reproduces with a cloud of spores.

Seriously: Not sure. In the past I've just had crushes and stuff but at the moment I do have this thing for a close friend of mine; I feel a really strong connection to her which I've never had before. Not entirely sure if it's love, mind you.

She and I were best friends a few years before we started dating, and I figured I loved her. Clearly I didn't, since now I don't even talk to her, really.

I have been in love with a girl only once in my life. I have been infatuated with different girls several times. What really aggravates me is how the general college/ high school populace cannot seem to grasp that the two are different. To quote a scripture: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." I have only felt entirely selfless towards one person in my life. We are no longer together, but I still love her and I probably always will to some extent. I believe that is one of the differences between "true" love and infatuation: If you truly care about someone whom you are in a relationship with and you love them, that will not go away easily, if at all.

Sorry for the long post but I couldn't think of a shorter way to say it.

By the way, I am very aware that I am a hopeless romantic. I'm used to it :p

None of the above responses apply to me. I've been attracted to people at first sight but love is something that came out of many months together. It's a longing to be toegether and a happiness when together. Doesn't take years, doesn't happen right away but when you feel it it's like all the chocolate, sex and massages in the world were distilled into an elixir and injected into you.

I've been truly in love twice. I was engaged at 20 to one girl, married from 27-32 to another. Madly in love with both of them---and they each broke my heart.

And yet I still believe. I'm either a hopeless romantic or a complete idiot.
Sounds like my story
One relationship was age 17-22
and from 23-28 to another

And had my heart stomped on numerous times

Still trying to find the impossible dream.

Love does not exist. Its just friendship with a fancy name.
I pity you.
I don?t see how, or why you would pity me. If it is so much different, then would you kindly state how exactly it is different from friendship? I have yet to see anybody come up with an answer
Edit: Spelling error.
My problem is with "just friendship". Friendship can also be kinda of love if its friendship to death and not just a regual friendship with 30 people from your neighbourhood which I think is what you meant by "just friendship". You may think Im an idiot for believing on something like love to death (and possibly beyond) and it may be true but there is no way I could change my opinion in this. And when I said that I pity you I wasnt 100% serious so please dont take it as offense :)

Some infatuation, I suppose. Otherwise, no. Not even really family anymore to be honest. Friendship, much less this stuff, does not come very easily to me.

So it goes.

Yes, at first sight. And she crushed my heart and moved on her merry way.

Yes. With my best friend. :) On our very first aniversary a long time ago, I made him this wooden chest by hand - I mean, completely by hand. I cut the wood myself, nailed it together, drilled on a lock, beat it up a little with a hammer so it would look antiqued, and then stained it. Then, I wrote 365 reasons about why I loved him on little scrolls I cut out of parchment paper I stained with coffee to look aged, each tied together with a tiny red ribbon. Took months to do, but it was worth it for him. I will always remember how he teared up when I showed it to him on the beach.

Would it be too much to say we fall asleep together holding hands?

Yeah, it probably would.

The poll is kinda flawed in that there isn't a YES option. Nice one.

Just a question to those single, together or married. I guess different cultures view love differently, so I'd like to hear from your own experience.

Your poll is flawed because there isn't a YES option btw.
Annnnyways I am very much in love with my best mate and boyfriend, Dan.
Moving in together in a few months ^.^

I'm kinda flawed because I managed to write that twice like an idiot. I retract my complaint -_-

I am in love atm, and have been for about 3 years now and it doesn't look like it will falter. She is my better half, and she completes me, i don't know what i would do without her love... maybe spend all the money i would have spent on her on video games.

Love? Sure! Every day I fall in love with some beautiful goth girl who makes the world a better place just by existing.

Yes, or so my hormonally affected brain told me. But I turned off that reaction as an anti-break-down-and-cry mechanism when, just after I had convinced myself that "A 'no' wouldn't be the end of the world", and I was literally right behind her on the footpath, some guy she had met that day asked her out.
Christ, even a 'no' would have given me some closure.

I had one of those, I woke up then the truth set in. It took me 3 days to pull myself back together, true story...
I don't you I had the same kind of dream. Mine was more...one-night-stand-ish.

No offence taken. I will add that I dont make many friends, but the ones I do, I keep.
