Have you ever been in love? and also what is your personal definition of love?

Heres to hoping you guys will come in great numbers and tell of your experience.

Yes I have been in love romantically. She was a foreign echange student at my college. The time we spent together was wonderful. Sadly, she had to go back to deutschland and I had to stay in the u.s. I don't really regret that though because it was nice to actually be in love and not infatuated.

Personally, even though i'm not a christian, I believe that the passage about love in the bible is accurate. I also believe that romantic love is not the only love. I love my friends and family.

Also, First.

Love is a deep affection and care for someone, I love my family and many of my closer friends, I haven't got a significant other yet but hey, I'm pretty sure it'll happen soon.

Have I ever told you that I love your avatar, OP? That was a truly spectacular game.

Yes, I have been in love. I'd daresay I am right now, in fact. It's the most amazing feeling in the world.

There's just nothing like hearing from him first thing in the morning. Or those random moments of affection out of nowhere.

I could ramble.

I have been romantically interested in two special ladies, I suppose that is one of my definitions of love. Unfortunatley one was married and I haven't seen one in years and may never see her again.

I would also do anything within reason for a lot of people, such as my family and friends, I would hate to lose them, would do most anything to make them happy, and I am usually happy to be around them, so I guess that would aslo qualify as love.

I am in love right now. :) And with the most wonderful man ever! He's seriously my other half.

A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person. :3

I'm currently in a relationship. I'd say I'm head over heels for her. We're a great pair. I'm incredibly happy. :)

I have. Still am, in a sense. "I love you, but I'm not IN love with you", that sort of thing I never understood when I was younger.

As for defining it? I honestly don't know right now. And I'm usually damn good at that sort of thing. I'm in a weird place.

I may revisit this thread when I can think of a proper way to put my feelings on love.

I'm in love with my gf. As for my definition, I deep affection for someone, as well as having your happines tied with theirs. When she is sad, I'm sad and so forth and so on. Seeing her happy makes me happy. I don't think that this is unreasonable.

Sure, still am and seriously wish it would go away. Logically, there's nothing there, mainly due to the fact that I've known her for over a year and have never really gotten the impression that she gives a damn about be as any more than a friend at best, if even that. And even if that weren't the case, knowing both of us I can't really see how a relationship would ever actually work out anyways.

But, while logically I can dismiss it, logic doesn't mean a damn thing when emotionally, I love her more than anything. Here's hoping that with time and a lack of contact, that'll fade. If not, I suppose every alcoholic has to start somewhere.

If you mean being in a romantic relationship with someone, then my answer is no, I've never loved.

I thought I was, several times, then I realized my definitions were wrong.

Screw it, I'm quoting the Bible:
1 Corinthians 13: 4-13 said:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I have had a few teenage crushes. And 1 long term relationship. 1 relationship all togheter actually. I just don't seem to feel as strongly about people as other people do. I haven't had the feeling of being in love since i was 16. Im 20 now. I don't know what's wrong with me, but it's fucking annoying.

Nope. Afraid I can't say so. I've had tons of heavy crushes, and I had a fairly decent relationship (for an 18 year old anyway) with someone I didn't have too many feelings for, but I've never been "in love", where everything is just awesome.
I think a lot of people my age mistake rampant hormons with love. Or maybe I'm just unlucky.

But I hope to have a mutual being in love thing going some day. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but beggars can't be choosers.

No. I thought I was, but I was just blinded by lust. Besides, who finds their true love during sophomore year in high school?

I'll just have to wait for that one special person.

I've had a few strong crushes, and am in the middle of one right now, but I've never really gotten into anything serious, mainly because I'm too shy to actually ask anyone out regardless of how open I usually am with them.

In what sense? There are so many types of love, that yes I have loved. There's familial love and I do my family. And I have friends whom I love. I care about them and their well being. I would help them if they asked or even if they didn't. We never stay mad at each other for long. That sort of thing.

As for romantic love, no, I haven't, though I could love the man I'm with now as he makes me happier than anyone before him.
