Poll: Have you ever "Caught Them All?"

I think I got 2/3rds of them in Diamond before I hit the wall. I've decided that anyone who actually catches them all is either sadistic, ridiculously completionist, or ridiculously dedicated to Pokemon. Maybe a combination of all three.

I'm doing one of those on Platinum. CRITICAL HITS ARE THE BANE OF ALL EXISTENCE, though the game becomes fairly easy when your starter and backup are both a half-dozen levels higher than most challenges.

Never. Never wanted too, though the only games I ever owned where Red and Blue, but I lost Red. I'm content with Blue though and not looking forward to that battery running out causing my save to go bye bye. Sort of. In Diamond I caught about 482 (I miss out on the event only Pokemons) since I was a genius of getting all the Jhoto starters by transfering them over from Pokemon Colosseum. Yes I know that 482 isn't the total in Diamond and Pearl era but that was enough for me to get that stupid certificate therfore I had catch them all (sort of).

i have only played Blue and LeafGreen properly. i did play Gold for a bit but didn't didn't finish it. In Blue i once got most of the ones i could without trading. think i had around 120 but that's the closest i've ever come

Luckily as I have pretty much every pokemon game gen 3 onwards and in 2009 a lot of free time in the summer in wasn't that difficult, just time-consuming.

Seriously, I was so happy that I caught all the pokemon in Blue (even Mew!) and went to that guy as fast as possible to see what I'd get, and I was pissed when I got a certificate. I swear every conversation went like this:

The guy: 'Good job, you caught all the pokemon, here's a certificate. What? Were you expecting something else? Lol.'

Me: 'GODDAMMIT!'

I got them all in Red. Then the game's memory chip failed and I lost them all. Took me until I discovered the internet to get back into it, and by then I was a gen and a half behind.

My little brother had Red, so trading back and forth it was actually do-able. However, we only traded when we needed to, we both still independently beat the game. Fun, but also a pain in the neck.

And don't give me any shit about Mew, that one doesn't fucking count.

I won't catch all the Pokemon (or any), I won't look for all the freaking feathers, I refuse to find all the "tags", wanted posters, landmarks, stunt locations or the rest of it. I have better things to do than explore sandboxes for pointless collectibles, like playing the actual game. If I see one, I'll probably nab it, but I won't go looking.

In my Pearl version I got 454 out of the 493, so I was pretty close. However, because of some freak accident, my save file became corrupt, and I lost all my info.

That was the closest I've ever gotten to catching them all. TT~TT

In the first years of high school, I was [-] this close to Catch 'em All in the original GBC Gold version, I only had like 10 left, but then for some reason that I don't quite remember, I stopped playing it. I even had Mew and Celebi!, but I had like 10 left.

So yeah, close, but no cigar.

I got all the 251 that you could get in pokemon gold... Copious amounts of cheating were involved however.

I did it in blue. All I needed was a vaporeon and I eventually got it by sacrificing my brothers red version game. My brother was pissed but by gar I got my vaporeon.

Back when I was 12-13, I did indeed catch them all in Pokemon Red. I really do think that game is responsible for more of my gaming time than any other game before or since. It obviously took me quite a while... and a Gameshark to get Mew

It wasn't particularly difficult, though. I was playing at what I assume was the height of Pokemon's popularity (?). Literally every friend I had was playing it, and conveniently for me, they all bought the Blue version. So, I had very easy access to any trades that were necessary.

I had a friend who caught them all. Then the new game was announced. He was pissed, but I thought it was hilarious.
