I gave up on Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant once each because I couldn't get the timing of the command rings down at all. And I gave it time and came back to the games later on and did much better. With Covenant it was actually an issue of the TV I was playing it on, the refresh rate on it was buggered up so I couldn't get the timing.

I've been having a lot of trouble doing a second playthrough of Dragons dogma just because I keep getting wrecked early on in the game. It's probably because im instantly turning my character into a mystic knight as soon as possible but I just haven't felt the will to continue playing it.

It doesn't help that I have a lot of entertaining games to play so a new game needs to be pretty good for me to take much interest in it, otherwise I just go back to Dark souls.

not really to do with difficulty, but me not being good at it, dragon's age. i've tried origins and 2, and i just don't 'get' the control system, and can't play properly, so i've given up on the series. it's just not for me

i've never fully stopped a game because it's too hard though, i take a break from it, but always go back. my current waiting game is AVGN adventures... that game is a *****

Never. If I truly like a game I will attempt to master it. A good example would be Natural Selection 2, which took me a good 60-70 hours just to start getting positive K:D, now I usually go 20-1 or better as Lerk.

Same with War Thunder, though that was much easier (probably all the Lerking in NS2 as well as being a bigger game) and now I rarely die in a plane without at least taking out 3-9 enemies first.

I almost gave up on League of Legends as I just could not do anything on it... Then I had a break for 3 months, started a new file and specialized heavily in support and utility. Within a couple of months I re-reached level 30, earned three crests and have a roster of be-skinned sorceresses to be feared... Yet I will never kick as much as as I do when I am playing the healer. It's a matter of perspective. The same will likely happen with Demon's Souls (which I simply could not be arsed to grind through) - all I need is a change of class. For game with more restricted play styles, pffffffff.... Can't think of any that would pose an issue other than Yahtzee's favorite; spunk-gargle-wee-wee. But I don't class those as games (other than the zombies mode).

Resonance of fate and Record of Argrest war:Zero. Are the only two games in my library that i failed to complete because it was too difficulty. I just can't understand the combat system in both games. Lord knows i tried, several times.
Same here. Resonance of Fate never worked for me.

I remember giving up on Ninja Gaiden 2, at the boss fight with the winged demon in the church. It was so hard that I simply couldn't proceed any further, despite a couple of hours of trying. As it happened, many months later, I picked it up again and despite starting at the fight and forgetting how to play, I beat that boss 2nd or 3rd attempt and went on to finish the game.

Team Fortress 2 is sorta another one. I haven't "given up" though I so rarely play it maybe I have. I just realised that I'll never be that good at it since I've passed the point in playing where I would've gotten the hang of a class's intricacies, and I haven't. It's a little frustrating to know that I'll never be great at it since it's a good, fun shooter, probably the best MP shooter around. More so when I have been able to get good in other shooters over the years.

Dead or Alive....or whatever that beat em up is on the 360. Im not all that interested in beat em ups, though Mortal Kombat is more interesting due to the characters. But with DOA i just couldnt get the hang of the counter system, so gave up as i wasnt having any fun. Just rented it to kill a weekend.

Demon's Souls for me, I was actually really enjoying the game up to a certain point. I was doing well, I even beat multiple areas without dying. However I got to two bosses that made me rage quit. It's not a bad game, I want to go back to it, but I just got so frustrated I didn't want to continue.

If I encounter a game that is too easy, I'll probably just finish it. Even super easy games can still be fun.

No games specifically spring to mind, but I've given up playing fighting games seriously. If I'm at a friend's house and someone suggests we play Tekken, I'm all over it, but I'm fucking dreadful. Have you seen people online? Fucking hell, these people must be coke addicts. Normal people don't live at that speed.

I went with "maybe".

I don't know that I've given up on a game purely because the difficulty was too high or too low, I do quit playing any game that bores me (I value my free time too much to waste it on something that I'm not enjoying), and if the game is either not enough of a challenge (and doesn't have some story or world element that makes difficulty a side point) or is difficult to the point of frustration, those things certainly can play a big part in my engagement with a game, so they'd be part of the "this is fun/not fun" equation.

Another one is the first Rayman game. I've started then given up on it two or three times. That game is a lot more brutal than its cute aesthetic suggests.
