First, let me say this is the first thread I've made here. I searched the forums and as far as I can tell, no such topic exists. Anyways, on to the subject at hand:

Most of us are no stranger to frustration. Gaming can be a cruel mistress, and even the most cool-headed have probably rage quit a game before.

However, what I'm interested in is real life. You no longer have that veil of anonymity, so rage quitting your job or a sports team or any other activity can have a greater impact on your life. You can't necessarily just jump back into the game. So, has anyone ever rage quit something in real life? Is there ever a time when it's justified? What were the consequences?

No, but my younger brother constantly does. He really gets on my nerves with it, yesterday he was trying to rip music from a load of CDs onto the family PC and I was in the other room on my laptop. He was basically moaning at the top of his voice about how the internet was so slow (I had no problems myself, on the same wireless connection) and almost rage quit what he was doing because it was taking ages. Bearing in mind he was trying to get music from about twenty CDs including almost my entire CD collection.

I have rage quitted many a time when forced to read something i didn't want to in my English class. I went from just placing the book or article down and escalating all the way to the tossing or throwing of said literature and a few F-Bombs

A few years ago I had a job re-stocking shelves at a local supermarket. We were all treated like shit by our boss, and one day I just felt that I'd taken enough abuse. I confronted the boss about it, and when she flashed that arrogant smirk and told me to go back to work because she'd fire me if I didn't, I spit in her face and quit. Before I left the supermarket I convinced two of my coworkers to quit as well, and I had the satisfaction of knowing that the ***** would have to work until about 11pm or midnight without the three of us.
Of course I didn't let my opportunity of keying her car go to waste before going home.

Consequences? What consequences? There were no cameras in either the *****'s office or the parking lot, so I got away with it clean as a whistle.

I rage-quit from conversations with my family on a fairly regular basis. In my younger years, I'm fairly sure I rage-quitted at least one tennis match.

It happened when I went to see a movie with my older brother.
I remember the movie was so bad, so boring and the actors didn`t help either that my brother stand up and yelled "THIS FILM SUCKS!!!" and left. I agreed with him. :p

Funny enough, I don`t remember what film it was. I suppose that`s a good thing.

Haha, exactly this. I've actually lost a couple of friends in my lifetime through ragequitting arguments with them.

Sure have, some jackass supervisor at a bar job kept taking the piss out of my longish hair and tattoos. I don't mind banter but after a couple of months in the middle of a shift I told him to go fuck himself, spat on his shoes and walked out.

I ended up being poor for a couple of months but found myself a great job that I kept till the end of uni so in the end everything worked out.

I've raged quit a few classes back in school that had me put down in the Pupil Support Centre which was for students who just couldn't behave, not rage quit anything since school though, I saw my friend rage quit college by throwing a monitor across the room then head butting the tutor.

I used to rage quit a lot as a kid. As an adult, having bipolar disorder, I have rage quit a couple jobs but always when my boss has been a real asshole. I don't tolerate assholes very easily.

So have I, but very rarely. I've rage quit maybe one or two friendships ever, but that's because you really have to push my limits a lot to make me angry.
