I never have, but only because I could never find a F2P MMO that could hold my attention long enough to make me want to buy something.

A little on Champions Online so I could make a tiny green army man named Sarge. ;)

Well, a bit. I did pay a bit of money for general utility (inventory & bank space) in Perfect World International. I also dropped some money in LoL for some characters. More a convenience purchase than anything else, as I could've gotten the stuff through straight play. Too bad I left...I was pretty high up in level on PWI.

I've played one F2P MMO for... a week? Maybe? It was a year ago, give me credit if I don't remember the total time. Combine that with the fact that I do not have that much money, and that's why I have not spent any money.

Extra Credits are right: the only things that they may charge people for are convenience and paint jobs, nothing more. "Spiral Knights" are essentially making people pay-to-play for a crappy game. Better spend 15 bucks a month on a good mumorpuger, if there is one, I haven't seen one since UO and RO and I played lots of them.

Hey now. Spiral Knight ain't that crappy. You just have to give it a chance. Also, it doesn't Make you do anything. You can buy energy(currency for entering dungeons) with Crowns(in-game currency).
A purely subjective opinion. I say it's crap, that is my subjective opinion.

My point on the energy is that they don't have anything worthy of selling for real money, so they sell you gametime. I know you can trade it for the in-game currency, but that would slow your progress even more, at least in the beginning, which in turn will turn off a lot of new potential players. A really dumb business strategy if you ask me.

"LaTale" had it right: there were tons of cool outfits and cosmetic gizmos, cool pets for fighting, support, drilling and picking up loot (all of them were able to perform that last feat, which made your life so much more convenient), additional inventory space, an non-obligatory lottery where you could win unique pets. It was a good investment. Unlike most f2p games that try to cheat you out of your money.
