I just about have given up. The community has had too much time to speculate about what it will be like, so now we all have our own idea of what the game SHOULD be like.

If it ever does come out, I'm expecting it to be sub-par in almost every aspect, to be honest.

Yes. Half Life 2 and its subsequent episodes weren't that great, and I doubt that Episode 3 will be as good as them. Which is a bad sign.

Half-Life 2 was great, but I do agree that the episodes were a bit lacking. Besides, the Source engine is just way too old. I know that great things can be done with it, but Portal 2 just doesn't compare (not just graphics-wise, but in just about every aspect) to the Unreal 3 and CryEngine 3 and many other engines that have come out in the almost 10 years since Source first came out.

I mean, compare Portal 2 to this level that was made by some guy with the Unreal 3 engine.

Yeah, I just don't give a shit anymore. I don't care if it comes out or not, but seriously Valve?

All Valve had to do was tell us a bit about development, one random screenshot, talk about source engine, HELL even some more concept art would be appreciated!

But no, don't say anything, just keep quiet and act like it doesn't exist...which for the most part isn't too much of a bad thing, IMO

Maybe Valve can ditch the whole Half Life thing and move on to other things, but with how they left Episode 2, that's gonna be a problem.

What makes it worse was that in the Podcast 17 interview with Gabe Newell, over 70% of the questions were Half-Life related, but he pretty much ignored them, then went on to say a few minutes later, "We always listen to our fans! We love feedback!".

Oh yeah, you LOVE listening to us ... (sarcasm)

Ah, well see, you're new to the fray. You beat Episode Two right? If you haven't, don't read the spoiler.

Imagine ending on that the note of Eli's death. Now imagine that you've been waiting since Mid-2008 for the sequel to that ending.

You can see why those of us who have waited for this long would be giving up.

Yeah I have played episode two and I can imagine what all of you are going through because I've been waiting for fucking Battlefront 3 for the past 6 fucking years.

Sorry I get a little angry when I don't get my games when I want them.

But at least Star Wars: Battlefront 2 didn't leave on a shocking cliffhanger ending, which, to be honest, is what has made this wait intolerable. I agree that it sucks having to wait for the next installment to anything, but having to wait for a conclusion makes the wait even more painful! :-(

Yeah I know. I still also want a sequel to Republic Commando(I am a huge Star Wars fan) which actually did leave off on a cliff hanger.

Valve knows they'd be swimming in money (well, more so than usual) upon release of another Half Life game. They're too saavy to give up on it.

I expect they will release Half Life 3 instead after all this time.

It's wierd they don't talk about it though. Its kind of creepy in a way.

What would it hurt just to tell us what the plan is after all this time :/

I played through and beat the single player bits of Orange Box and while I had fun with it, I really didn't care too much for it. Not enough, anyway, to be on the edge of my seat anticipating any and all news from Valve. I'll wait until I see gameplay before I judge it worthy of my time. I'm not saying it won't be worth my time but I'm not sure if it'll be worth my time at $60.

I imagine that if they ever do release HL3 some many many years down the road (It's not coming out any time in the next few years), all the fans will be in up in arms about it not living up to their wildly insanely madly inflated bloated absurd expectations.

Whoa Whoa, let's not even go there, this is Valve were talking about, i don't think they'd allow a shit game to be released under their name.

As for those going on about Source being an old engine, what's wrong with that? Who cares about graphics anymore? they've come as far as they can, what's the point in improving it any further. Plus i prefer Valve using the Source engine as it feels like a game made by Valve. and i'll be very interested in seeing what they do with it when DoTA 2 comes out. and TF2 looks sweet, even though its been 4 years it still looks awesome..

I gave up a while ago. When Portal 2 came out, I had a small glimmer of hope. Throw in something that ties the ending of Portal 2 into Half-Life (Episode) 3. Instead, nothing. So yeah, I'm done. This is no longer entitlement speaking, as so many love to point out. This is someone who is simply tired, who stood by waiting patiently for even just a bit of news, and has constantly been disappointed.
It's like waiting in line for a really awesome ride, only to constantly watch people cut in front of you. And then to watch it break down, and then watch the repair crew stop and walk off, saying they'll be back later. Eventually, you give up and go do something else.
