I've only played Oblivion and that game was boring at the best of times.

I've heard good things about Morrowind, saying that it was better than Oblivion, but I've also heard that Daggerfall was better than Morrowind.

So I'm convinced that determining the best Elder Scrolls game is very much a matter of personal taste.
That said, I voted Morrowind.

Same here, I've never been able to get a copy of Daggerfall or Arena, but of the two I've seen, I'm gonna say Oblivion. I just enjoyed it on a much higher level then Morrowind.

Morrowind. I've spent so much time playing that game. Kinda sucks 'cause it's one of my favorite games, but with zero playability anymore for me. Oblivion however I seemed to whip through that and all the DLC and expansions in seconds.

I've played Morrowind and Oblivion and of the two I like Morrowind for the slightly creepy, down trodden muddy experience and I like Oblivion for the slightly cleaner look and feel of the place, down trodden and Muddy gets old after a while... So does getting blasted in the face by red dust and ash.

They both are fun RPGs to go trapsing around and stealing peoples stuff though.

Same here, only played 3 and 4. I tried so hard to like Morrowind, I really did, but alas, I failed.

Oblivion on the other hand I found pretty enjoyable, so naturally I assume it's the more "watered-down, noob-friendly" game of the two. Still, IV gets my vote as the only one I could tolerate. Looking forward to Skyrim though.

Daggerfall and Arena are out for free on Bethesda's site. Why don't more people know about this?!

That said, I'll vote Morrowind, ONLY because Daggerfall's dungeons are just way too daunting for me, heh.

Because I don't go to Bethesda's site nor do I really talk about Bethesda a lot with my friends. I'll give it a look now that I know. Thank you.

Morrowind. For soooooo many reasons.
I can't really judge Arena, though, because it lags like hell on my computer. But I highly doubt it's better than the others.

I've only played Oblivion and Morrowind myself.
After repeated attempts I could never really get into Oblivion, the level scaling, the very generic scenery, the really well..boring variety of creatures and baddies to fight, all put me off a lot.

Morrowind was a bit more pleasant, exploration felt more epic as I was finding creatures that were actually very neat to look at and get mauled by. Morrowind itself was hardly a place of varying scenery, but at least I could feel like it wasn't a sort of place I had seen in virtually every Fantasy themed piece of fiction ever. I dunno if it was just my luck, but dungeons seemed to give much more rewarding treasure finds as well.

So yay for Morrowind! Once I stop procrastinating I plan on trying Arena and Daggerfall though.

Wasn't talking about you in particular, but it just seems like everybody wants to try out Daggerfall and Arena, and NOBODY knows that they were put out for free like a year or 2 ago...

There's even a project, DaggerXL, to remake Daggerfall to be compatible with modern systems, to help boost it's modding community.

Also, TC, "Morrowind" is spelled wrong in the poll.

Morrowind always seemed like the best game to help newcomers into the series.

Y'know, like Resident Evil 4. Only Elder Scrolls.

Morrowind all the way. I mean C'mon, you get promoted to a lord eventually and get your own keep with cash vaults etc etc with your own shops, guards and everything. Also the guild progression made sense. A mage couldn't progress in the fighters guild (mostly) etc etc.

I'm doing an LP of Daggerfall right now, as in, I'm off to record more footage as we speak, so that ought to answer your question.
