Just glad its not on the XBox360, its would have never existed with that Halo-Gears of Micheal Bay-I-need-a-gun-in-every-game crowd. But I digress....
I disagree entirely, I can think of quite a few games that are on the PS3 that, shock horror, fit into that crowd's type of game quite easily. I hardly think that PS3 owners are exempt from that rule to be blunt - funnily enough, a lot of the games are cross platform. Consider it the standard market now.

Myself, I'm disappointed its a PS3 exclusive, I'd have liked to play it on the 360, Wii, or PC - as of yet, i've not been able to play it, but it does look very intriguing. Theres been several interesting articles that have been made on this, one of which is included in my own thread on this subject. (near enough got buried mind with no responses. :p)

as far as i'm concerned, it's not a game, it's an interactive movie/choose your own adventure.
also, i sense trolls soon..

I really want to play this game, but sadly I most likely will not be able to because I don't own a PS3. It's great to see a revival of the adventure genre, what a great genre it was.

This game is making me interested in trying traditional point and click adventures. After all that is what Heavy Rain really is, and I loved it save for the reveal which I think is one of the biggest loads of bullshit ever.

Only played the demo, finished it a few hours ago actually.

Looks like a fun game, the controls are a bit annoying which ruined the first time I went through the first level of the demo(should have played the tutorial section first). But assuming the rest of the game is of comparable quality as the demo, it'll be a great game.

Heavy Rain was not only a great game, but also one of the best movies I've seen in years.
If we're rating it on being a movie it's not a very good one. The acting is unbelievably mediocre.

Overall the game was good, but I didn't think it was as good as Indigo Prophecy. The beginning especially can't be compared.

From what I played I can safely say it is literally Quick time event: the movie: the game.

Oh you definitely should, they're great games, particularly those made by Tim Schaffer: Monkey Island 1 and 2, Maniac Mansion 2, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango. It's such a shame they died out...

I have not played it yet, but I definitely plan on doing so. Unfortunately, I have 3 brand new games given to me on my birthday which I haven't even touched yet (wait, did I say "unfortunately" - I meant "fuck yeah"). This will definitely be my next purchase, however.

You must save ingenuity in gaming such as this before it goes extinct. Before it all gets lost amongst the monotony of the mindless FPS genre
Hey now, come on, there's no need to insult the entire genre - there are plenty of FPS' I could mention that are most certainly not mindless.

By the way, I don't even have a Ps3. I came on this thread wanting to hear some good things about the story and characters of Heavy Rain so I know whether or not I should buy it when I finally get round to buying the system. I'm glad you didn't mention any spoilers, and I'm also glad to know that I'll probably need to get Heavy Rain at some point in the future.

My wallet, on the other hand, isn't glad at all.

Aside from the previously mentioned Schafer games, you should try out Sanitarium. I'd played it briefly when I was younger, but I played it all the way through last summer and it blew me away. Easily the best adventure game I've played - and one of the best games I've played in general.

Mind you, I never did finish Grim Fandango. It's such a bother to try and run it on Vista and I have no clue what I'm doing anyway.

*Disgruntled moan* Okay sure, it's pretty rare that a game can make you do that thing they call feel and it is nice to see something different but don't you think the OP's giving it a bit too much of a tongue bath? Games are supposed to be about having fun and a good story that makes the player think and feel is just the icing on a cake to my mind.

Yeah, but the last couple hours of Indigo Prophecy were God awful. It was like they dropped acid during the last 3rd of the game.

But yeah, Indigo Prophecy's intro was hella memorable.

In my opinion, Heavy Rain was very fun. I beat it in 3 sittings because I was constantly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next.

For me, games like MW2 and Halo are fun for about 2 matches before they get EXTREMELY tedious. But everyone has their own definition of "fun".

It's very compelling, and it does drag you in. I found myself freaking out and doing something I didn't want to because I was so in tune with my character. Or when something happened, I was as worried as my character about it.

The only flaw this game has is of course the controls, it did the job and got me to enjoy the game all the way to the end, but it's a gimmick I don't or should I see don't want see continue.

As for the game itself, it has the best story I've yet seen in a game, it's what Indigo Prophecy should have been.
