I love cartoons in all shapes and sizes, but I hated The Animaniacs. Probably because it tried to take the Looney Toons humor into the 90's, and it just didn't work. Not for me, anyway.

Pinky and the Brain was pretty good, but everything else was just plain stupid.

And thats my contribution. I really love this show, its amazing. I remember during Christmas, Cartoon Network aired the Animaniacs Christmas movie. I can't remember when I enjoyed a movie as much as that one.

"I don't get vertigo."
"I know, I've seen that movie three times and still don't get it!"

They also did the Nations of the World song. I still don't see how they pulled this off:

As well as the US states/capitols and US presidents.

This show got me through Social Studies(History) and Geography.
As far as "kids' shows" goes, I don't think there was ever a cartoon show that managed to be so genuinely anarchis while actually teaching something of cultural relevance.

After that EVERYONE made references to this film!

The friends episode took the cake for me never saw that one.
I like them well enough but you gotta love the other segments of the show not just the warner brothers
This is my answer to THAT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY7_ZwgoeJM
So, Who's on Stage, again?

I probably would have been a bigger fan if I watched it more, but I didn't care about it.

know what?... after looking at your vids and waking my nostalgia meter, i just realized that most of those shows made my generation the cynical but with sense of humor we are now, and i look at the toons of today and wonder... what the hell will kids this day become!?

also, politically correct toons are boring...

Now THIS Slappy Squirrel's segment is quite something i tell you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwYacTjyD3U&feature=related I just HAD to share it with you... You know that show featured a lot of not so subtle dirty jokes, but THIS one might very well be the... Single. Dirtiest. Joke. EVER!

Well, I was always partial to "I don't know what to say the monkeys won't do.", though really I liked a TON of this show, and definitely Pinky and the Brain.

Just checking one thing, though. Were you...making a World Destruction/Sands of Destruction reference with that poll, kuma?

Eheheh. Good times... My family had the Animaniacs game at one point. It was actually not bad, as much as I can remember it. :p

So, yea. I voted "I like it."

Spongebob Squarepants is really good, methinks... unlike mid 90's cartoons, it is "balanced"... what do I mean by that? Well... it's difficult to explain in just a few words. I'll have to open a whole new topic about the balancing factor of today's cartoons compared to the unbalanced adult oriented "kids' shows" of the '90.

seriously? you are claiming a yellow sponged with no backbone, an anoyig voice and incredibly boring chapters is better than... say, animaniacs or freakazoid

balance has nothing to dowith it, when sponge was going to be beat up by the bully in his driving school, he did nothing and "magically" nothing happened because he was a sponge, if "freakazoid" or "Animaniacs" would had being in the same position they would positivelly beat the crap out of the bully, now tell me, what would you rather have your kid do??, defend himselve or do nothing hoping things will be all right anyway???

It would appear that you have tragically misunderstood me... that's why I posted this: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.278794-The-Dirtiest-Joke-in-TVs-Hystory-a-Retrospective-on-1990s-TV-animation#10870080 I hope I can make myself clear with my claims.
Once you read it, we can debate this properly.

Needs to be an option for, it wasn't on TV when I was a kid. I had Pinky and the brain but not animaniacs. Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm an Aussie. Any other Aussies see it?

OMFG I LOVES ANIMANIACS!!! The best bits were always either the Pinky & The Brain shorts, the Slappy The Squirrel shorts, or the plain Animaniacs shorts. These types of songs were always my favorite:

Ah, the memories... NOSTALGIA RUSH!!! Too bad they do not have cartoons like that nowadays... Or maybe I am just looking at modern cartoons through rose-tinted nostalgia glasses. That is always a possibility.

Speaking of which... I'm just throwing a completely random, base-less, mild guess here... but I do have the slight feeling that you happen to moderately enjoy "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", am i right? ;)

Well it fair to say I'm a big fan of it but I do enjoy watch other current shows like Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Transformers Prime and Adventure Time at the moment.
