Alright, I'm wanting to start writing a book, the only problem is that I have three pretty good ideas stuck in my head, and I'm wanting a little help on deciding which one of them to write. To me, they all seem like they should be a movie or a game, but I'd try them as books. The options are:

Medieval style fantasy

Contemporary thriller

or Sci-fi

Oh God. Medieval style fantasy I'm going to say because there just aren't enough anymore but the other two genres are also fantastic. Hell, I'll just say go with the first for the time being!

Oh! You heard of NaNoWriMo?

I think fantasy is always the most exciting to write. The other two can bear you down with the amount of details you need to keep track of. Maybe it's a cheap way out but, with fantasy, there's always a new way to explain something.

Like my problem is, I've developed all three ideas very well, and my friends are just about equally divided, so I figured I'd ask the people of the internet for assistance.

Maybe develop all three ideas whenever you can?, just start with one of them and after it's finished, start making a new one with one of the other two remaining ideas, after you finish it, start with the third and who knows, maybe during that time, you'll think on more ideas on how to improve the ones you already have and you can make sequels or completely new games using those "left over" ideas.

As to wich one you should start out with... well... I really don't know, but if you feel the most comfortable with one of them, go with that one. I know that these three ideas aren't the definition of easy, but start with the one you feel the most comfortable with.

EDIT: I see that you don't know wich one deserves a different medium... well, I'd say that maybe you should start out by trying to make your book, it's a bit easier and less risky than making a film or a game.

Sci-fi gives you the most amount of freedom, I think. I'd avoid thriller because they're very difficult to get right so not the best idea for your first book.

Unfortunately, out of all of my ideas, they are all decently developed, the Sci-fi is the one that still needs the most overhauling and work still

Give us the lowdown for the story concepts for each one, might give us whether its workable (universe expansion etc.).

Still, I'd say thriller, because that's one of the genres I can't write.

With me being an idiot I would suggest combing all three into some sort of awesome Medieval Sci-fi Thriller. Being reasonable however, I would suggest doing a Contemporary Thriller because I haven't read so seen a good movie about one in a while.

Well, all of them involve a war in some way, shape or form. The fantasy is against the resurrection of an ancient deity and it's followers; the thriller, in a nutshell, is basically WWIII; and the sci-fi, is, well, still in development more or less

Try to come up with a specific idea for the sci-fi one, as that could very well be the best, because you have far more freedom of imagination rather than limiting it to medieval fantasy or contemporary thriller.

If you have a solid idea for the sci-fi one, I'd definitely say that. If not, go with your medieval fantasy.

Thanks, knew that, but the problem is it gets a little out of hand, you know?

And a combination is a good idea, maybe like family, or the sci-fi people screw up the space time continuum?

I just got ninja'd by Chuckey there.

A Sci-fi where one would travel to a fantasy world in order to solve a Thriller themed mystery?

Sci-fi thriller. Those are always the best. Like Blade Runner (or I guess the book it's based on would be more appropriate here).

what you could do is write all 3 as short stories and bundle them all together and you can write a full fledged sequel to whatever one people like the most

Hmmm, that's actually a pretty good idea....the problem is, where to post them or where to publish them
