Out of my head:

Heart of the blade
I'm gonna print a poster of that chart for the studio, it will fit with with the rest of our decorations ;-)

Okay. Looking at the project blog, I've come up with a few titles.

Flash of the Blade
Squire's Scramble
KingSteel
KingSteel: Squire's Scramble
Legend's Forge (or Forge of Legend)

Yeah. That's all I got...

I voted for Steel Ascension. The only real reason I bothered to write a reply is because I want to comment on how badass the troglodyte concept art is.

I have no clue man. Try to stick to as few syllables as possible, or at least something that words easily.

'The Royal Blade'?

Hello fellow Escapists!

I started my own video game studio and we are a team of 5 developing our first title for XBLIG/Steam. We're having a hard time finding a title for our project.

The game is about a sword that must be enchanted in many ways to become strong enough to be worthy of the King. It isn't focused on the story, the hero doesn't even have a name. It's really more of an exploration game in which there are many different possibilities of sword "builds", much like character builds in RPGs. The goal is simply to start a few different games and check how the different powers combine together and test out the results in a few dungeons.

The game has a working title, which is Swordcraft, and we'd rather not call it that for many reasons. But if it resonates more with our audience than anything else, we might keep it anyway.

So here you go, tell us what you think and if you have a better suggestion, please share it in the comments!
If it is not to much of me to ask, how much was it to start your own studio? And there are many different names for both Sword and Craft for example Blade and Forge could you not trade one those words around? Sword Forge for example?

Here's a link to a thread I started about a few weeks ago where I was answering such questions to anybody. If your questions weren't answered, feel free to post them there or by PM and I will reply, I give you my word.

steel Ascension sounds good
unless the sword is not actually made of steel.
i also like "the incomplete sword" has a nice ring to it

it really depends on what type of game you are making, but I don't think that any of the proposed titles in the poll are good - nothing that sticks in my mind or would make the game stand out by it's name alone. can't really think of any decent alternatives, but here are a few ideas -
other words for king/kingly - Monarch, Regal, Lord, Imperator, Majesty, Rex, Ruler
other words for sword - blade, edge, (. . . not really that many)

Monarchs' Edge, Sword of the Imperator, The Blade of Kings, ectera

sorry, I don't really have any good ideas right now, hope I've helped out a little.

sounds pretty simple, so swordcraft should work, but mabye you could twist the words around a bit? so it doesnt sound so straight forward?

for example: how to train you dragon could have been called dragontrainer, but that doesnt soud as funny/cool now does it? ;)

Why not name it after the blacksmithy? It can open up more possibilities and with a good name it catches on (i.e. Recettear).

We probably would have done that if it weren't for the fact taht there are three different NPCs that enhance the sword: a chemist, a mage and a smith, and all of them offer very different powers. So we don't want to make one of them the "main" NPC.
