A lot of people will tell you that in a situation like this it is better to run away than to fight, this however is probably the worst thing you could do because if the assailent is armed with a gun (or even a knife) they are almost alway going to be able to get you with the weapon before you are a safe distance away, you should attempt to dissarm or disable them, your chases of survival rise significantly, particularly if you can surprise them somehow.

depends how close he is. If hes close enough-disarm and then shoot him in the foot or hand for being a twat. if hes too far. then...pray to god. distract him. and then since we're in a local shopping centre-leg it behind something that could be used as cover.
You're hoping to distract a gunman with prayer? Are you going to strip nude beforehand or do you pray in tongues?
I could do both :p

Duck into another aisle and use cover until I can bring a knife to bear on him...
A man who does not carry a weapon is either a fool, or a pacifist... and thus a fool.
In this world violence is everywhere, and if one does not act accordingly to defend one's self one is bound to be directly influenced in a negative way by it at some point.

also if a knife is less than 6" it's legal in Canada to be carried on one's person, and I know how to use one well... if i got caught carrying anything else that i might get to defend myself with I'd be screwed... and if i pulled a gun on him and killed him in self defense... I'd be locked up for possession of an illegal weapon.
BUT we could always hit him with a hockey stick.
Shame, I didn't know any type of knife was legal here.

OT, Flee
well if it's like 6" or smaller and not a switchblade... or y'know particularily concealed...

if you just happen to be carrying a hinge locking utility cutter/survival knife in your pocket at the time... my excuse is usually "y'know how damn hard it is to open blister packs without a knife?"
Yeah, that makes sense.

That's why this has to end. You're obviously incapable of grasping even the simplest ideas of logic. You've misunderstood me at almost every turn for the last few posts. A person with normal brain function could have followed me, I'm quite sure. Or at least they could have followed themselves and figured it out. I'm honestly bewildered as to how you could have failed to get it.
Your posts are incoherent. Build a bridge and get over it, or learn to express yourself clearly.
You can claim that, but you're wrong. At a certain point, it ceases to be my responsibility that you cannot understand. You've passed that point. Even disagreeing with me about this... you're stupid: build a bridge and get over it.
Your both stupid. Both of you should build a bridge and hang yourselves from it.

I mean seriously. This is a hypothetical situation about a guy pointing a gun at you. There isn't any logic to be had. It is a hypothetical situation about a guy with a gun. Use logic on a guy who has a gun pointed at you? It would be like me explaining Einstein's theory of relativity to an ax murderer.

The problem is that if someone's willing to unload on a random dude he aims at in a supermarket (Preferably through eenie meenie miney moe) then he's gonna shoot down his victim's loved one after the victim protects them. I'd probably either try to talk him down to either distract him or to stop the shooting altogether, or just run the fuck away.

If there was a decent chance that I could disarm the bloke with as little danger to those around me as possible, or if he was going to shoot up the place anyways I'd try to disarm him, or die in the attempt. If there wasn't a chance I'd try to talk to the bloke and shield those around me. Death before dishonor!

Realistically, If I could, I'd try to escape and get the police....

...or roundhouse kick the guy in the face.

I'd probably try to distract him by pissing my pants in fear and then sobbing loudly in shame. Once he's realised that I'm no threat and wandered on his merry kill-spreeing way I'd grab one of those ride on gopher-mobiles off the nearest geriatric and run him down like Nico Bellic hopped-up on speedballs. Telling him that his father hates him is optional. xD

*Opens mouth*

IMA FIRIN MAH LA-

No, lets not go there. Here's a plan that nobody thinks of. I'd take out my wallet, which is stuffed full of cash and change. I throw it at him, catching him off guard. The wallet hits him in the nose. His head curls backwards, and while his is blinded by the lights above him, I grabbed his wrist, snap his arm the other way with my elbow, steal the gun while he screeches in pain, then shoot him in the foot. To top it off:

"On the ground ************!"

Then accept the praise of many scared mall-goers.

*He. He. He.*

On what basis do you claim that logic cannot be applied to a hypothetical situation?

Use logic on a guy who has a gun pointed at you?
Who said anything about using logic on a guy who has a gun pointed at you?
You were arguing with that other member over logic in this thread.
