I'm excited for it. I can't wait to see what other characters get added.

I don't understand the SSB fans that hate it. I would think SSB fans would WANT more games to emulate that style, but maybe I'm in the minority there
SSB fan since day one here.
No, you're not in the minority. A lot of us are really interested in this game and you can see that on forums. It's just that the hater are rather loud, posting a bazillion times in 1 thread. It's always the same story with the hater.

OT:
I was really interested in this game until I saw how to win. The finisher moves just don't fit the game (IMO). One of the things that made me a SSB fan is the way how you win. Kicking the hell out of Mario until he's over 100% and than one strong hit and see him flying.

Finisher on the other hand... well, the knockback is always the same, you don't notice the damage you deal at all. It's just kicking each other until one of you fills his finisher bar and uses it on the enemy.

I would still like to try it, but I'm not interested enough to pay for it.

Unlike most people, I would actually like it to be a 100% rip off. I love SSB and Id on't see anything that I would like to change. So having basically the same game with different character would be a bigger plus than a bad copy.
And looking at BR, it just doesn't have the something that made SSB good. Can't really explain what it is, but something feels wrong with BR.

Wait, was that Parappa the Rapper from UmJammer Lammy?!?!?!
Mind = Blown back to my childhood.

Seriously, I never bought any Super Smash Brothers title so I probably won't get this one but it certainly looks fun. Although everyone's going to want to be a Big Daddy.

I'm actually excited. I actually like ripoffs to a certain extent. It will have to take risks with the SSB formula that SSB would never take. I also like a lot of Playstation characters, can't wait for Ratchet&Clank to come in.

I made the optimistically hopeful option but I want to see what the final product looks like before buying it in case of a massive screw-up *cough everything in street fighter x tekken cough*
This. What I've seen so far looks entertaining, at the very least. Depending on how the roster fills out, I'd probably pick it up at some point.

Even though it looks really similar to SSB, why is that a terrible thing? SSB is a good series and people enjoy it, but not everyone has a Wii.

That being said, from the demo we saw in the E3conference it seemed a little unbalanced. Granted this is a beta or earlier I imagine, but thats something that might need to be looked at.
Also it's possible to rebalance the game through patches (but would they?)

for me to get it the controls need to be good, it has to have Ratchet & Clank characters, and two or three of the following other franchises Sly, Jak, Crash Bandicot, and Little Big Planet (just imagine beating the crap out of a big daddy as a sack person)

I'm not a fan of beat'em ups or fighters so I wouldn't get it, however it is a really cool idea that I wonder why no other company went after. I mean yeah Marvel vs Capcom and such but no one really went ahead and did Sega vs Capcom or whatever.

Cross-overs are fun what more can be said?

Not sure about this one the thing about SSB is that Nintendo had enough characters to make it work without having to become to obscure, so I'm pretty sure the roster won't be as good as SSB's is. The thing that got me Somewhat interested is the idea of being able to play online multiplayer without the stupid friend codes(could never get it to work without them, not sure if it was somehow my fault or if that aspect of the game was just broken) but then again my interest in will probably vary based on how much of a SSB ripoff it is. I already have Melee and Brawl I think I can mange without a third one. So maybe if I see it in a bargin bin I'll pick it up.

The short version: If I was still in school with roommates and lots of foot traffic, then yeah, I would be interested. My current situation isn't a prime party brawler environment, so I will probably pass.

No interest here, because i don't play fighting games.
For me PlayStation is all about J-RPGs.
So if there is " ALL Sony J-RPGs stars J-RPG" i would be on board instantly
Holy hell does that sound like an awesome thing.

I just don't like the cluster-fuckness of those types of games, and prefer more "hardcore" and "technical" fighters.
Just because I'm bored right now, let me say that a lot of the stuff you do in SSBM was at least as technically demanding as some of the "classic" 2D fighters out there. For example, wavedashes are harder to perform than Focus Attack Dash Cancels in SF4, imo.

Now that that's out of the way, off to do exams. :<

I'm excited to see this flop.

Why? Because it's missing what made SSB work: character blending, all of Nintendo's characters look as if they belong in the same game. This game? ... No.

I spent that whole trailer holding my breath of a Cole McGrath money shot, but it never came. As someone who will shamelessly fanboy over the inFamous games as the best PS3 exclusives and my all time favorites, this is disappointing.

Depends on who else is going to be in the roster. Even then though, I'm still not sure.

Once I get the full roster I'll decide if I'll purchase it at all but if they get some more cool sony IP's as characters(Sir Daniel Fortesque would be great) NOT backgrounds then yeah I'll pick it up someday

Yeah, I am. Not day one purchase but I might get it eventually. Smash Bros was interesting because of the character mash-up and beating each other. This is the same, yeah, but it keeps the formula that made SSB so fun. So yeah. I just hope they add more PS iconic characters like Crash and Spyro and finally confirm Jak and Ratchet and such.

Also, the graphics throw me off. You have a beautifully rendered Nathan Drake against cell-shaded Sly Cooper. Yeah...at least Nintendo tried to render them all equally. Wasn't it awesome when we saw a 3D Pit? Or a 3D Ike? Even if the combination of characters might seem odd, at least the graphics were the same (Except for those who clearly weren't meant for 3D graphics, like Mr. Game and Watch or whatever and Toon Link). So wouldn't it be awesome to see a 3D Parappa the Rapper? Or a 3D Sly Cooper? I mean, if they did that, I might change my vote into "Day one purchase".

And while we're at it, what's with Sony naming their games PLAYSTATION something? Yeah, we get it. It's a PS brand game. You can tell by the characters. Do you really need to slap the word Playstation on the title? Wasn't this game titled 'Battle Royale something' at some point? Also, I clearly remember Playstation Move Heroes being named Heroes on the Move at some point, which I thought was a way better name. So yeah, Sony. I love you and all but stop acting like pissy cats. Literally.

I still find it weird that Big Daddy could be defeated by, let's say, Fat Princess? But I kinda got over that when Solid Snake was defeated by Yoshi.

I guess I'd be interested if I was a Playstation person, but even then I'd want something closer to Smash.
Daystar Clarion said:
It's basically Smash Bros with none of the charm of Smash Bros.

That is to say, no, I'm not interested.

And I love Smash Bros.
Also you can only kill people with Final Smashes.

Also they switched the player tags from red, blue, yellow, green to red, blue, green, yellow. Totally different game :p

I'm not interested, mainly because I don't have a PS3, nor do I have any intention to buy one. If I were to play it I'd probably enjoy it, but I don't really know any of the characters beyond their name and appearance so the inclusion of "Some guy I don't know!" doesn't excite me either.

Smash Bros isn't the first/only game with that type of gameplay
What similar games pre-dated Smash Bros?

Looks interesting, if I'd had a PS3 and this would actually get more characters, the line-up is a little bare this way...

Depends if it's like Melee or Brawl. If the latter, I hope it dies in a fire.
