I just want to know what some people's views are personally, I cannot stand that music i think it is horrid no originality. It is a bunch of repeted lyrics and bass. But some might like it.

I wouldn`t say the entire genre sucks, just large amounts of it and even a metalhead like me can enjoy the odd bit of public enemy

There is no genre of music that uniformly sucks*. I used to think I didn't like hip hop or rap, but it's a story telling style of music, and when I listened to some Aussie stuff, with relevance to my every day life, I gained a new appreciation of the genre.

It's never a good idea to close off to anything new.

*Except experimental themed punk. Take your pretentious art-wank noise outta my face.

No, I don't.

However this thread could be seen as both trolling and flame-baiting as it has no real basis for discussion and is also biased from the title.

The title should be "Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap Music. Do you like it?" if you are going to be fair.

I used to be a hardcore hip-hop/rap hater. Now I listen to basically anything but country. Rap and hip-hop can be good, it's just there is a large amount of crap out there.

Generaly speaking I dont like R n' B or hip hop, but there are quite alot of rap songs I like, mostly by Eminem. Me and my friends used to listen to him when we were young and I think his music kinda grew on me, I still get nostalgic when I hear Eminem

When they stop talking so slow (like they're on drugs) and have subject matter that isn't how many babes they're getting it on with, and isn't Dizzee Rascal, then I often like it.

I'm sorry it looks like I'm post stalking you but I'm just wasting time in class... Just had to say I totally agree with the experimental themed punk thing, I can't stand that stuff. That made me laugh though.

RnB is Shit.

Rap/Hip Hop on the other hand, is awesome.

Although ther are only a handful of artists which are good (such as Eminem, Obie Trice and DMX)

Definitely. People who think experiencing a mainstream representation of anything is an accurate way to form an opinion don't really have opinions of their own anyway.

Excatly, the old style i loved to listen to, but now the songs have lost the meaning. And all they talk about is sex and drugs,

Unless anyone here can give me a rap (")song(") that I want to listen to over and over again, I'm going to label it all as 'Utter Suck'.

I hate rap. I like DMX.
I loath Hip-Hop. I love Outkast.
I despise newer R&B. I dig Gnarls Barkley.

There always seems to be an exception, but overall, not my cup of tea.

There are things I like and things I don't. And if I have learned anything at all it's that sometimes things you absolutely despise can produce this one thing/song/comment that you enjoy. Granted, I take the music you mentioned for one of the last things that will succeed in this, but it could happen...

not all of them. older bands are pretty decent, I like me some public enemy and grandmaster flash. I don't listen to R&B at all so I won't say anything about that.

There are some good recent rap groups out there, but you can bet that you won't find them on the radio, band/artists like immortal technique, atmosphere, jedi mind tricks. The ones I just gave are mostly underground, while most "popular" rap group/artists just flat out suck with very few exceptions and it's only because they have one or two good songs.

Yes. All 3 of those genres in the title are complete and utter garbage. It is just a bunch of "ghetto" black people who grew up, probably in suburbs, claiming they grew up on the streets and making raps about the following:

- their dicks
- their cars
- their "bitches" "sluts" "hoes"
- their TV's
- their "homies"
- their houses
- their money
- their airplanes
- their shoes, shoelaces, soles of their shoes
- sex
- killing
- killing police officers

Anything I missed? Now, if you think that talking to a computer generated beat with the concept of rhyme is music, I encourage you to find the nearest skyscraper, and jump off.

In my honest opinion, ANYONE, who is given time, can write down words that rhyme.
