Poll: HL2:Episode 1 or Episode 2

I'm pretty torn, I replayed HL2 and the episodes recently and while I can totally see why someone would choose Ep2 (longer, more varied settings/setpieces) I just really love City 17 as a setting and the whole uprising scenario.

But didn't a lot of it simply feel reused to you? I enjoyed it, but it did just feel like an expansion pack, I would want to play Episode 1 unless it was directly after HL2, it just can't stand alone for me. Episode 2 however, that's a great game in it's own right.

That's a good point, but I never really thought about it because for one thing I wouldn't be inclined to play the games out of order, not only that but as I said I enjoyed the setting and scenario of City 17 so that fact it's nothing but a direct continuation from the end of HL2 is no problem for me.

Episode 2 for me, the hunters actually scared me the first time I came across them much like the Stryders did in Half Life 2 (the whole arsenal absorbing ability they seem to have)

One thing that really stands out for me in EP2, in the mines, one of the humans says
"Be adequate!"
"sounds like something the vorts would say"

Absolutely Episode 2 without even a doubt in my mind. Episode 1 was great and all, but Episode 2 was just so much better. The environments were different, the enemies were tougher, and it left it on a cliffhanger to keep us wanting more.

I liked Ep. 1. Because that bit with the slow lift and the zombies in the dark scared the shit out of me. Also I thought the strider battle at the end was really good fun, if a little short.

Ah, excellent.

My favourite was Episode 2. I am a story-driven person, and Episode 2 came through with story for me. This does not mean I didn't enjoy Episode 1; I just found Episode 2 to have more variation and to be more exciting.

Episode 2 was great but i simply loved the zombie garage set piece and i loved the free bullet playthrough i did.

Personaly i think episode 1

Why the smeg would anybody like episode one better? That is simply ridiculous. I usually tend to allow all parties to have an opinion but in this case it makes no sense.

I prefer Episode Two, but I don't see why Episode One was such a critical flop. It's beaten upon far too much, I think, and I had a lot of fun with both.

One was groundbreaking when it came out but has not aged well, two just leeched off the legacy of one and made a fairly good FPS that was just not good enough for me to warrant spending money on.

I like Ep2; Ep1 was good but after escaping the Citadel and going up to the surface it was just blah.

Episode 2. The car goes vroom and I goes "weeeeee! gnomey! Weeeeee!"
I think Episode 2 was more varied and episode one was just a long and continuous battle through city 17.
