Well I'm at Uni with my good ol' laptop. It's not entirely a gaming laptop. It plays games, it has a badass screen but it only cost about £550.

I play MW2 plus a fuckload of steam games. I can't play MW2 multiplayer though because I'm in halls and the university network blocks it.

I don't play consoles because it'd be too much of a hassle to bring up a TV. Plus I'd probably need to get a license which would be a PAIN.

I own everything on that list but the ps2 and gamecube, but only because my ps3 and wii have backward compatibility.

Also, why no original xbox? i never owned one, but still. also, you didn't mention the hand helds.

but i don't know if you can use my results, i'm within your age target (22), but i graduated 3 months ago =/ Graduated with a bachelors in chemistry.

If you need me to narrow it down to one, go with the 360.

I'm in Unversity, but I have all of my consoles with me because I moved out before going to school, and I bought them after moving out. So... PS3, PS2, Gamecube, Computer. (also PSP and DS) Most used one is PS3 though.

PC. My household also owns a Wii and all the old consoles, but we all play together on LAN, so those consoles are somewhat neglected. I chose PC because I can use it for homework and for gaming... plus, the games are cheaper, you can use WADS or a controller, and you don't have to buy a new gen console for new games every five years (if you build a decent machine, that is).

DS and PC. DS because it's portable and takes up minimal space in my hotel, er, dorm room, and my PC, because, well, it's my laptop for school. It can run a few games, and I make it do so often.

I'm half way through my freshman year! I own an xbox 360, PS3, and a Nintendo gamecube, I refuse to rid myself of my gamecube.

Finishing my associates degree, I own a PS3 and a 360. The 360 was my main console, because my friends all played on xbox live, and I purchased the PS3 for the exclusives like God of War 3, MGS4, Uncharted, and so on.

I'm in a UK Uni not an American College but I felt I managed to meet the spirit of the requirements.

I put PC because I play that the most, I also own a 360. I got the PC due to the MASSIVE power they can have and the ability to modularly upgrade it over time. Also, the range of accessories for it is second to none and it can also browse the internet and write up essays.

I got the xbox to be able to play Fable 2. That's it. Since then I've bought a few titles for it such as GTA4 and Force Unleashed, but it's still only a tiny number compared to my PC collection (which also containes Force Unleashed.... it had new levels and stuff....).

I am attending an art collage and I own a XBox 360, PC and used to own a Playstation 2 but had to give it up in moving situations. I actually prefer the PS over the XBox, my PC is used mostly for schoolwork... and World of Warcraft.

Overall I like the controls of the Playstation more and feel in my opinion that Playstation has a better assortment of games.

I appreciate the feedback. I understand that it is a little annoying not to be able to select more than one (we can't all be rich bastards) but an important thing here is also what made you buy the console in the first place. My paper is based on the popular culture between college life and video games. I am also researching the semiotics and sales tactics that console manufacturers are utilizing in order to convince the collegiate demographic to pick their console.

Meh, I wouldn't say Escapist accurately portrays the real world demographic numbers (we are far cooler than normal gamers), but all the same I voted Xbox 360, because all my friends had it and Halo 3 was going to come out soon... of and the PS3 was still far more expensive.

I got a PS3, the main reason I got it was I loved my PS2 so I figured I would love the PS3. I got my PS3 at launch so there were not that many games for it so that did not influence the reason I got it, though the fact that it had free online play was a nice bonus. I also got a gaming PC do not have many games for it use it to browse the internet mostly.

I, like others, still live at home (housing/living costs are far, far more than I can afford). My most used is my PC, which I also use for uni work. I also have an Xbox 360 (which is broken, go the prod), a PS3 (picked it up dirt cheap :D), a nintendo 64 (which unfortunately died in the heatwave of 08/09), an original xbox, a nintendo DS, a wii and a PSone. As my siblings also live in my house, it's probably worth mentioning that only the PC, DS, xbox 360, PS3 and original Xbox are actually mine.

You didn't post a choice for two or more. I have both a 360 and a PS3 with me at my apartment. I hope your paper goes well.

I forgot to add...I also have a Gamecube.

I voted for my 360 because I play online with it the most. However, all of my single player games that I don't need to play online I play on my PS3.

I bought the 360 because that's what my roommates had freshman year and we've been playing online ever since. I just received the PS3 from my girlfriend as a b-day gift for the Blu-Ray player and for LittleBigPlanet.

I play my N64 the most. My neighbors play their N64 the most. In fact, the entire floor of my dorm plays N64. Anywhere between Smash Bros to Goldeneye to Pokemon Stadium to Mario Kart to Star Fox, there are more N64s around my large dorm than any other console I know.

I'm surprised that other people haven't brought this up.

Oh, I see what you mean. Unfortunately, I decided to keep this study in the 6th and 7th console generations... for simplicity sake.
