It would change a our knowledge of a fact about a character, which would change our interpretation of said character.

However this does not change who they are.

For example: I collect decks of cards. You all did not know this fact about me, and this being revealed alters your perception of my character/personality. However, this does not change who & what I am, merely your perception of me.

will making Kaiden gay or bisexual in Mass Effect 3 for MY playthrough in the span of two games change his character to the point of it being soiled?
I don't see how him being gay really changes anything, maybe you'll get access to slightly different dialogue, finding out someone is gay doesn't change who they've established themselves to be and in my past experiences with a gay friend, it didn't even make the friendship awkward in any way...I suppose it could change things if you are homophobic but I hope you are smart enough not to be such a nasty thing.
me, homophobic? I want Kaiden to be bi/gay lol

Ah, okay. For the record I wasn't trying to insult you, I was just stating my opinion.

Isn't that kind of a silly question. I don't think it is an unfair assumption to assume that people are straight until shown otherwise since the large majority of the population are. So if you learn something about someone that contradicts what you initially believed about them then of course it is changing them in your mind. That isn't necesarily a bad thing but it is still a change to who you believed that person to be.

To be honest at first when I heard about such stuff on games I was 'What?! No way am I playing it!'. Than I gave in, tried it and realized it was lots on choices to make. I can choose not to be gay/straight/evil etc.. Kids should not be playing it anyway (respective ratings) and it all boils down to individual values. I had fun playing a no-holds barred killer in Skyrim

Now a days I find these kind of issues in games sort of 'eh, free publicity' whenever the media reports it and someone tried to get it banned

It doesn't affect me either way, so I don't really care, but for the record, allow the homosexual options, if you're homosexual and you don't like the way the characters developed for it, then go play a different game or romance a different character.
