First warning: yes, this'll probably be a spoiler-heavy thread. What did you expect?
Secondly: Yes, I did do a search and yes, I did find that thread from the beginning of August. However, that was solely about if it should end. I'm more interested in the how.

So... After watching 7.21 (Changes) (yup, the Netherlands is a bit behind on all of this), I realised, admittedly somewhat late, that we've been gone through all this bullshit before. House is back on drugs, Masters is gone (thank god) and everybody is generally unhappy and breaking every ethical code in existence. We've gone back to bloody square one, to before House committed himself. I knew then that I wanted this series to end before I got completely sick of it.

And since a few episodes before we say how House promised to euthanise Thirteen if her disease progressed to far, if she wanted him to, why not use that instead of making it a looming threat which isn't going to happen?

Let's say that her disease gets the best of her, and you have an episode in which the characters say goodbye to her before she dies. After that, you could show that while Foreman and Chase leave the team, they can still cope with the loss. On the other hand, House cannot, which has been shown before in the series already. He Wilson and Cuddy and ends alone in his office.

And, yeah, I'm not that good of a writer, but I'm just getting sick of this routine which has been going on for a few series too long right now. I really, really want House to end before it ends up like so many series: bad because the producers didn't know when to end it.

I think this is actually the final season. I agree, though. I love the show, but it NEEDS to end. Hell, I would have been ok with it ending when House ended up in the asylum. Sad, bitter, but fitting end to the series.

Then again, I wouldn't have gotten my favorite episode if that happened (the episode when he's IN the asylum).

EDIT: Also, I'm not a big fan of your ending (it shouldn't about anyone but House, and that would make too much of it focused on Thirteen), but at the moment I can't think of an ending myself.

Or, you know, you could just stop watching it. That way people who are still fans can enjoy the show, but you don't have to. A win-win situation, isn't it?

I thought this was the last season? Beacuse Hugh Laurie wants to persue his music career.
It is... i don't see the point in this thread at all.

This.

I still enjoy the show, even if it's not always about medical mysterious that no one really understands.
So yea, start watching something else.

No, because people still like it.

That said, it has passed its expiration date as far as I'm concerned.

What kind of bullshit logic is that? I love the show, I adore it, but I feel it should end because the character needs closure before he gets stale. It wouldn't be win-win, because we who think the show should end would be left with nothing to ponder but the fact that there is still stuff going on and House never got the ending it deserved.

That's like saying that people that love a game but thought it dragged on a bit should just stop playing it.

It's called an "ending". Every story deserves one. Especially one about a character as well developed as House.

Didn't watch the earlier episodes but I really love the show so I don't think they should stop it.

eh.. it was somewhat interesting the first few times i watched it; but by the 4th episode I'd watched i could predict everything that was going to happen from that episode on because it follows a formula way too tightly. that's probably why house went back on drugs; him being sober and lucid probably didn't fit their precious formula and instead of writing new material, they had him relapse.

Plus, as many fancy disease names as they may insert; he's still neither as skilled or as entertaining as Dr. Hawkeye Pierce was.

They've been milking House for the past 4 seasons. It was a good show way back when but at the moment the writers are obviously running out of ideas.

I pretty much stopped watching it after House became Grey's Anatomy with Hugh Laurie as the star. Which is really the opposite of what it was supposed to be aiming for.

I'm glad it's the final season. From what I've seen so far, it's really running low on content..

Well yes, people who love a game but think it dragged on a bit should stop playing it the moment they stop enjoying it. If they still enjoy it then they should be thankful that it is carrying on.

Also, House MD is not a story, it is a set of many stories each of which have their own endings. It is a series, and they're pretty much designed to go on and on until too many people get bored of it and they die off. The only exceptions are the series that are really one large story, but House isn't one of these. This might sound like a bad thing but it really isn't, everyone gets to keep watching the stories until they personally get bored and move on.

If you no longer enjoy the show, stop watching it (or stop watching it whenever the current story-arc ends, if you feel you need some closure). If you do still enjoy the show, then keep watching it, and be happy you can do so.

Somehow I'd like to agree with you, but I'm too madly in love with House to go all the way with that. I've seen every single episode, and as long as Hugh Laurie makes any kind of appearance on the show, I'll still watch it.

I stopped after season 3. Everyone knows how nearly every episode is going to play out anyway, regardless of the disease. It's one of the most formulaic shows I've ever seen in my entire life and it quickly turned into some boring, repetitive show.

I heard that there was going to be an 8th season, which will definitly be the last one.
Well, Fox says it will probably be the last one, but are letting Universal make a choice about whether they want to do anything with it before it dies completely. So, I believe as far as Fox is concerned, season 8 is the last one. And as far as I know, Universal hasn't decided one way or the other on their end yet.
