Hated it. Couldn't get past the first match outside of the story. You know the trope "The Computer is a Cheating Bastard"? It should be renamed Blitzball.

There were too many contrived limitations. Turn-based sports game! 2D playing field! Use special abilities and level up!

Why not just make a simple sports game and let me play?

It was P. dull, let's face it. Given that the winning strategy was always "get one goal, maintain possession so enemy can't score past your hopeless keeper".
Of course it's not gonna be fun if you don'T even decide to play it seriously and cheese it instead. Besides, seeing as you can level your players up or hire other players you have to do it pretty wrong to have a useless keeper

A mixture of not really caring/not knowing how to play led my first game to being a big pile of "What the hell is going on?"

As a consequence, I never went back to it. So for me it was nothing but a waste of time and needless cause of frustration.

I quite liked it :) On my first run-through I didn't understand it and so I only did the mandatory games and left it alone forever. The next couple of times though I invested time & effort into it and it does get pretty fun! On the Mi'hen highroad, at the Al bhed rest stop halfway down, you can get this Al bhed guy who is basically the ultimate defender. Get him, and your team are immediately doing much better.

It was funny actually; eventually the Luca Goers didn't resign that redheaded asshole who is a jerk to you in the beginning... so I hired him! :D Muahahaha!!

I think it´s one of the worst mini games they´ve had, it seemed fun on the surface but as soon as i tried to play it it turned out to be shit. It´s just a big grindy numbers game and gets very frustrating because of it :/.

As a perpetual fan of stupid pointless minigames like this, I can't say i liked it.
The controls felt like I was never really controlling anything, which was quite a big deal and consequently, I didn't try it again.

Just to reiterate, I love these little side games. I probably put more time into FF8's card battles than the actual game.

It was okay but I preferred it in X-2 it was less cumbersome
still I did play a bunch of matches and scouted the best players (Biggs and Wedge) and played it enough times until I got Wakka's ball

but yeah I still liked the mini games from past games more, specially FF VII snowboarding :D

I'm just glad it was optional. I loved the concept of it, but hated the execution. Let's take a fast-paced underwater sports game that has venomous tackles and a ball that defies logic and turn it into a stat-based borefest.

I still haven't got Wakka's ultimate weapon because I can't be bothered playing it.

Oh now I remember that thing... probably the most awful thing I ever did try to play in any game, possibly the only thing worse then that Mass Effect planet scanning horror show.

I'm gonna go a step further than everyone else:

Everything about FFX was terrible.

The story was stupid. The voice acting some of the worst in gaming history. The removal of the open world (first time in the series) ruined the entire JRPG format of the game. The characters were downright laughable to observe, the villains being even WORSE offenders. And last of all, Blitzball was dumb.

FFX is one of the worst Final Fantasy games EVER made, its worse than 13, which was also pretty damn bad.

I cannot adequately express my distaste for this title any further. If I was forced to live on an island that came with only a PS2 on it and a copy of FFX?I'd used the power cord to hang myself.

Probably only enjoyed it because I made sure to get Jecht Shot and recruited good players. If you didn't do that, you likely had a bad time. The game play itself wasn't bad, but 3D movement would've made it better. It's hard to personally rate it against other mini-games because FFX was strangely one of those games where I just had to do everything.

BB was relatively nothing compared to some of the other torture in the same game. It had its annoyances but calling it the worst mini-game of FF is quizzical. If you dodged lightning, conquered the moa race and butterflies yet BB made you rage then there's something wrong.
