I forget shit all the time. All the time. I'd be asked to do something, and forget before I leave the room. I wonder if it's because of... um... yeah, an omelette would be nice?

For me, forgetting something is inevitable. The real question is, "What are you going to do about it?" If your mom tells you to do something, and it happens a lot that you forget, I can see why she would become irritated.

Instead of her just being mad about it though, I think it would have been a better response to help you find a solution.

It sounds kind of cheesy, but making notes for yourself can help a lot. Use the calendar on your cell phone, or just have a whiteboard you can make notes to yourself on.

If you "forgot" because you were busy doing something else (gaming, and time just slipped by...), then set limits for yourself and a "cut-off" time so you can get the job done.

I had the same problem growing up and had to discipline myself and get organized once I started working.

I forget to do stuff all the time. Easiest way to not piss people off by forgetting something is to either write it down so you can get it done by the deadline, or do it immediately if you can. For me, my family eventually realized I'm a forgetful person, so when they ask me to do something, they also send me an email reminder the next day.

I forget to do things myself, often because I used to procrastinate as a child. So anymore if someone asks for me to do something, I end up forcing myself to do it right away just so I don't have to worry about it later. My mind tends to wander... so either that's from old age or ten year old bong resin stuck to my synapses. Yeah, it can be a pain to stop whatever you are currently doing to do something else, but at least it takes the heat off of you to get it done, and you free yourself up from having to do it later.
It's funny when someone asks you to do something, but then when you immediately make a move to get it done, they say "oh, you don't have to do it right now". Then why the hell did you ask me now to do it? If you wanted it done later, tell me later. My own mom was notorious for that stunt, and she still hasn't learned that I'll just do it now instead of waiting until later because I either forget or procrastibate until it's too late if I have a chance. Better off to cross it off your to-do list as soon as possible to avoid complications later.
