I was just playing Electrosoft's Satan's Retrievers, and (for those of you who haven't played it) it is the biggest most pointless grindfest in existance. The game even goes as far as to play the worst midi-trash version of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. That's right, the game goes as far as to Rick-Roll you while you're playing!

Yet still, I sit here shooting down an insanely large number of weak and uninteresting enemies because this game promises that if I kill enough of them, I'll get a badge, which maybe not everyone else on this site has... And I feel so sad for saying this but... I really want that badge, and there's only one way I'll get it...

So, to ease my own personal feelings of patheticness, what extents do you go through to get a badge? How badly do you want them? How many times have you done Yahtzee's impossible quiz in the hopes of getting that badge?

EDIT: This doesn't have to just apply to Escapist Badges, what about PS3 Trophies or Xbox Achievements?

I don't really care much about badges, unless they actually mean you've accomplished something.

Like...my Neo badge. ^_^

I thought the title said badger...and I suddenly wanted to know what badgers taste like. Thanks for adding something else to my list of pointless shit I need to know. Anyways....I don't care for badges, yet I somehow get them.

I like the four I have on display. They say what I want to say (I've set up shop here on the Escapist, post a lot in most of the boards, and once had a small, weak group of ninjas take on and defeat a trio of powerful aliens). Any other badges I get here are entirely incidental.

Elsewhere, I treat them like achievments: to be aimed for if they have some in-game effect, bragging rights if they seem at least mildly achievable.

Badges are fun but I don't try for them anymore.

Whereas

Achievements are not fun and I always try for them.

I don't need them but they are a nice way of showing what all you come to this sight for.

I was bored, so I did it for fun. It took me a half hour. It really is a pointless grind-fest, but if you have nothing better to do, go for it.

In regards to my wanting of badges, it doesn't matter all that much to me. Although I did get the Epic Quizzes badge for acing all six Epic Quizzes 100%....

i'm so sad i lost my chance of getting that forever...

anyway, i am really not that badge hungry. i do not even organize my badges so all my "good" ones are not shown except for the top 4.

anyway, people play satan's retrievers? sounds like fucking trash.

and why is is satan's? satan is retrievers?
's in this case implies the possessive. They are retrievers (the dog breed) who belong to Satan.

Sad fact, I tried out the game simply to see the badge. I enjoy the quizzes, but I don't go out of my way to chase them down. On the other hand.... they are so cute... they make achievements seem even more worthwhile.

I'm always surprised when I see a message telling me I have a new one, because I've never gone about attempting to get one. Well, except the Neo badge, but since that involves not attracting mod wrath, I'm only trying to earn it in the sense that I go about not posting things likely to attract that as a matter of course.

While I guess I'm not really that badge-hungry, there were a few I strived to get, mainly those that involved watching the Unskippable episodes, and that was only because I'd watched them all before I made an account on here, so it was a matter of "if I had signed up earlier, I'd have em, so might as well get 'em".

The one for Satan's Retrievers I guess I got a little hungry for, if only because it felt a bit like an achievement. A bit being because, like the thread starter said, it was a pointless sort of grind-fest to get 666 kills. I kind of wish the gameplay had been better on it, but what can you expect I guess. Oh, and it becomes more bearable if you turn the volume down all the way and start listening to some Dragonforce.

I like badges and I'm a member of the badge group here. I usually only go after badges if they look cool or are easily obtainable. The only one I have worked hard for, to date, has been my Mudkip buddy here to the left.

Elsewhere I don't really care too much about achievements. They are neat but I don't strive towards them.

*burns with envy*

I will catch up to you get my Neo eventually. I've given up any hopes to surpass your post count though.

[sub][sub]There are but two other badges I want to earn here. I want a beard badge and a pony...[/sub][/sub]

[sub][sub][sub]Another poll failure. Darn...[/sub][/sub][/sub]
