it really depends on the overall style, but generally 7 would be my limit. 8 and 9 are just breaking my immersion.
I have a big inclination to stick with you on this one... I like anime... but those eyes are just weird! :S Creep me right out!Chemical Alia said:#3 is where it starts to get annoying, and everything past #4 is hideous.

Well, her character, as a whole, is usually played for laughs... The eyes are just indirectly played alongside that fact... (Then again, she is one of my favorite characters in the whole series, so that might just be my biased side secretly telling you to keep giving the show a chance...)Coakle said:Is the size of that girl's eyes played for laughs? That would be neat.FPLOON said:..It's part of the comedy of the show... (You'll get used to it... I hope?)
Regardless, I'll be giving it another shot soon. I can get over most of my stylistic hang-ups if I watch a couple episodes. Madoka Magic made me cringe, but I got use to it at episode 3. Like I said, Azumanga Daioh seems to be the type of show I'd enjoy, so I'm willing to invest some time to get acclimated.

My limit is 6, I also could handle a 7 with an eye-patch. I think it's a surface area thing.
No offence but it looks like you are a minority as most (including me) put the limit at 6. I guess it's because we are more used to anime; my personal reason is that, as an autistic, it was hard for me to understand body language so the exaggerated eyes helped in that regard.Chemical Alia said:#3 is where it starts to get annoying, and everything past #4 is hideous.
Because they like anime style and I don't? Am I missing something here? The diagram isn't really that great of an example, since all of the faces are pretty generic overall.Izanagi009 said:No offence but it looks like you are a minority as most (including me) put the limit at 6. That does bring up a question, you said that a good chunk of your colleagues like the anime style but you don't. I wonder why some people can like the larger eyes like a 6 while you are getting a bit annoyed at a 3?
Apologies, I was just asking what would cause some people to be attracted to the style and others like you to find it annoying/hideousChemical Alia said:Because they like anime style and I don't? I actually find the art style of Mass Effect so incredibly uninspired and monotonous, it's like, an active force repelling me from ever playing it. There is absolute zero things that I find interesting to look at with the Commander Shepherd character design, for the same reasons that anime style generally puts me off.
