Hello, citizens!

This thought came to me briefly when I came home from a hard day of work to relax and post on my favourite site on the interwebs, 'I wonder how my fellow Escapistians bring home the bacon.'

So, here we are! What is your occupation? career Hobo? Sperm/egg donor? Black market organ salesman?
[hr]

I, personally, work at a local detention centre (or jail, in un-fancy terms) contracted by a private cooperation. To be specific, I work commissary[footnote]We supply luxury goods, such as candies and brand name shampoos, and 'indigent' packs for inmates.[/footnote] . Basically, I come in for work in the morning, stock/restock the shelves, my boss prints off the orders and then we fill them. It isn't a huge facility but we pack around 200-300 bags and afterwards we deliver them directly to the inmates.

It's a pretty interesting work environment, working with the guards and serving inmates that always keep you on your toes.

I work at a bank as a Post Closing Specialist

That is a fancy way of saying that I go over the loan documents after you have signed all your docs and closed on your house to make sure that you signed everything and gave us everything we need to begin systematically destroying your life so we can foreclose on you make it a legally binding contract and to have the loan insured by the federal government.

It's a beginners job in banking.

I also have a side-job that is represented in my Escapist photo. Wore it to the bank on accident that day; boy that was embarrassing!

Drone retail work. I had a professional job once but...the economy, goblins, and there was that restraining order.

>.>
<.<

Whatever. It pays the bills. Some of them, anyway. And I'm working on some projects that should pan out pretty well so I'm not exactly sweating the future. :D[footnote]Why yes, they are legal. Thank you for your confidence in my moral character everyone. :p[/footnote]

I work as a validations technician at an engineering lab. I test the parts to see where their failure points are then record the data to send back to the engineers. I mostly do things like salt dips where we put parts in 80C ovens till they reach saturation then dip them in 0C salt water to see if any cracks from extreme temperature changes occur (we'll know cause the salt water will mess up the electronics).
I also do vibration testing where we essentially violently shake the parts to see if they loosen or deform in any way.

I'm like chell, but with less death and neurotoxins XD

At the moment? Career Hobo with a new truck. I had a job in the Retail industry, but that was getting really goddamn abusive, so I said "fuck it" and left. I can say one thing for sure: working at Wal Mart for two years will make you much more unhealthy than anything else. Right now I'm piecing things back together from that time in hell.

Well right now I work at a deli and make slightly less than most street beggars do and since Government (OBama) healthcare started my hours are getting slashed (So they dont have to give us full time benefits) as are all my co workers who most now have to go get second jobs. So yea hobos do better than I. However with that said I have some potentially big things in the wings that will god willing start in a few weeks that I'm very excited about. Hooray at the prospect of feeling like a man for once in my life!

Yeah, I'm currently a full-time student. However, in the summers, I work at a golf course. In the back shop, if you must know.

Found out today that I'll be making a crisp $12 an hour this year (a $1 raise from last summer), which, y'know, isn't bad for a summer job. It's enough to cover my tuition for the following year, and then give me enough spending money throughout school. That's pretty awesome.

That's pretty sweet! I also noticed you changed your avatar, what it is off of?

I don't eat bacon either; I just bought some club crackers. Maybe 'Bringin' home the crackers' instead?

>_> Right, right..I've totally played this series and know what you are talking about. Though, in all seriousness I do recall a 'Yuna' character from Kingdom Hearts. Maybe? Or maybe that was another character.

I haven't played a single final fantasy game ever and even I know this! [footnote] This may or may not be related to the fact that I have several friends who don't shutup about them... I like to think its because I'm just so awesome and know everything though XD[/footnote] What's your excuse for being so negligent Lucem? XD

EDIT: I should probably get around to playing a few one of these days. At the very least it will get my friends off my back XD

I also forgot to say before that your job sounds simultaneously boring and awesome at the same time! XD

I know some things about FF! Like uh, chocobos (spelling is probably wrong), Cloud, Leon, Lightning, uhhhh, the one guy that killed that one lady who was a party member and it was the gut stab heard 'round the world?

The closest I've ever gotten to an FF game is watching a cousin play on the PSX. D:

Dragging the thread back on track...

My official job title is "commercial artist", which sounds a lot more artsy than it really is. I design buildings (not as an architect, you need a degree for that), making floorplans, elevations, 3D stills (and occasionally clips) and I file building permits.
Occasionally I'll do some more engineering-y things like daylight, energy consumption and/or construction calculations

I never got calling them "Detention Centers". It's a JAIL! Why do we need such soft language for a flipping JAIL?! It's like how storemen are now called "Supply Assistants". Weird...

OT: Well I'm the personal assistant to my camp's Commanding Officer. Meaning he calls, I jump and get whatever he needs getting. He wants something done, I go make sure it's done. I wouldn't mind it too much, if I had actually PICKED the damn job instead of being fecking conscripted and having no say in the damn matter.

I hate the army...

Full-time student at the moment, but I am soon going to be entering into the world of software developement. So, that will be exciting. The money in software development is quite good. :p
