So, we've had a lot of stupid, irrelevant , "How do you do X" threads on the es-kay-pist, but, and I'm kinda patting myself on the back here, I don't think any have been as irrelevant or stupid as this.

How do you clap your hands when applauding something?

Figure A: Stupidly

Figure B: The Gentlemen

Figure C: The Escher

Figure D: The Rock Star

Figure E: The Devil

Personally, I know how to clap my hands, and I am a gentleman.

Sometimes like a gentleman, sometimes like the Devil, and sometimes stupidly.

Because I'm a mult-talented individual that you should all look up to.

Like the Devil. NO IMPLICATIONS WHATSOEVER. Also, what prompted this? Just saw some pictures of clapping and though 'Why not?'

I dunno, what's the honest difference between "The Gentleman", "The Devil", and "The Escher"; because they all look like virtually the same thing to me

I clap like a Gentleman. Occasionally stupidly when I'm trying to be silly or sarcastic, but my genuine applause is the Gentleman.

I try my best not to clap that much when I clap...errr, let me explain.

So if I ever feel forced to clap in a crowd, I'll do a light clap that makes no sound, because I find too much clapping to be obnoxious. Especially if I don't feel I enjoyed something. Instead if I DO like something, I would rather let out sounds from my mouth, like "WOOOO".

If I ever clap and actually mean it, it will go kind of like this --> It will be a single excited clap and my face will light up into a smile as I do it. That single clap will usually be followed by a "WOOOO" or a "Yes/Wonderful".

If I am at a concert, like a folk, jazz or rock, I will usually only let out screams, woooo's and lots of fists in the air. Sometimes I'll cuff my hands for my mouth to make my woooo's sound bigger in a loud audience. Sometimes I'll even jump up in the air, if it's a rock concert or maybe a rave type thing.

If I am at a Jazz club/lounge, it is a very chill atmosphere and most people will clap after a musician plays a piece, after EVERY single piece sometimes. Not me. Instead I have this habbit of raising my glass in the air and then taking a sip. Sometimes they see me, sometimes they don't. Also if I really like them, instead of clapping, I will wait till after their set and go up to them and most likely tell them to their face I enjoyed their music, and sometimes offer to buy them a drink.

The reason I don't like clapping, other then that I find too much of it can sound obnoxious, is that it can make my hands sore. Often times I would clap hard to make my clap be heard amoungst the others and clapping dozens of times all night makes my hands very uncomfertably sore. I have boney hands.

I clap like a real man!

Fist both hands, then pound the knuckles together hard enough to make a noise. Disregard bruises.

Uhh, like the devil? One hand horizontal and one vertical. Looks kind of dumb as everyone else seems to clap their hands at the same angles :|

Usually like a gentleman, sometimes like the devil. All depends on what mood I'm in, but its usually more a gentlemanly mood, so the clap reflects that.

Sometimes like a devil though I don't completely understand the reasoning why you described it so. Also I tend to clap loud and sometimes clap to squeeze the air between my palms to make fart sounds so stupid as well.

I stand up.
Slap my genitals just hard enough to make a sound.
Then sit down.

Generally the gentleman (both hands cupped, palm-to-palm) but also sometimes with the fingers of my right hand to the palm of my left, not sure if that's what the Devil is getting at, but that's the best description I can give.

And on very rare occasions, I use the backs of my hands, which falls under Stupidly. This is generally when I think something is unworthy of applause.

Lastly, something to note: I clap like a demon, you will never receive soft applause from me. Perhaps this is what is meant by "from the abyss".
