Children are a necessary evil.

Most kids I've met genuinely get on my nerves, but most don't quite understand reality, so I give them the benefit of the doubt.

I personally love children, despite it being unusual for people our age, though that's partly down to me having experience with 3 younger siblings including a sister 11 years younger than myself, and having a mother who was a child-minder, and lately doing volunteer work with kids. I can see why some would find them annoying but to me they just seem to have a positive energy within them that I cannot feel anything else other than happy at. I don't think it's selfish not to want kids, but believe me most teenage males think that and since the human race has yet to die out it's pretty clear a good number of those change their mind later in life :)

I'm neutral on the idea. Kids can be great, but they can also GRATE! On the nerves, I mean.

I mean, I'm open to the idea of kids, but really, I wouldn't mind not having any. Gotta help stop overpopulation somehow.

I HATE THEM!!!!! Damn things, messing up my house.

(By the way, I should probably write, my parent's house, and it's my 11 year old sister's friends, but yeah. Hate them.)

D'aaaaaawwwww! They're so pwecious!

Interestingly, I'm the only person on the planet who's favorite Fallout 3 location was Little Lamplight.

Nobody likes kids these days. It's like fucking cool now or something.

Personally, I just don't give a shit. I liked them when I was younger, but then I grew up more and I guess now I'm terrifying to them.
Which suits me fine. Easier to get a kid to pay attention when they're desperately trying to blend into the background.
I don't think it's trendy to dislike children so much as we're to the point where we're free to dislike children. Before this point there was social and religious pressure of "get a high paying job, get married, have lots of kid" because we are told that this is the path of happiness and adulthood. Across the developed world this way of thinking is changing and it's resulting in couples deciding on fewer children or no children at all. If it weren't for the influx of migrants from underdeveloped countries (who still have many many children) the populations of most of the developed world would be steadily dropping.

Um, who would ever say that? If anything, you are selfish FOR having kids. (I don't believe you are, but it would make more logical sense).

I don't see it as a big deal, have them or not, none of my business really.

I'd like kids eventually. A son and a daughter. But at 20, and without a long-term girlfriend, I think I'm a little young for kids at the moment...

Though I did have a nice little moment at work today. I work in a supermarket, so when I was on the shop floor a dad came up to me with his young son, probably around 3-4 years old, and asked for help. The kid was the one who asked, looking for comics, like kid's magazines and stuff, and was cute enough in doing so that Rena Ryugu would probably have kidnapped him (sorry, 'taken him home'...) for his cuteness. When I showed them where the magazines were, the kid said thank you too, which also proved to me that good parenting is still practised in some places in the UK at least, despite what the media would have us believe.

Yeah, I like kids. They're awesome when they aren't being little annoying monsters :D.

Can't stand them. Annoying, needy, messy, spoiled most of the time...

I already have friends that act like children, I don't want their miniature versions running around.

Then again, it's not just children. Teenagers get on my nerves too. And some old people. And most college students. I think I have something about human beings in general.

Meh, if children don't bother me I won't bother them.

You forget: older generations were raised in the "grow up, have a family" mindset, and people only become more set in their ways as they get older.

You sound more like this arguement:

Limits should be placed on the number of children any one family can have, because the human species is eating up all the resources faster than they can replentish themselves and we're all going to starve and die anyway.

blah

Little snot sacks always touching things with their weird little fingers and babbling on about stupid crap in their high pitched voices.

If it were possible for people to be cloned in a lab and begin their lives at age 18 or higher, bypassing childhood, that would be spectacular.

I really really hate kids.

I don't know, as they say you've never the only one on the internet, that was one of my favourite locations too, although Megaton probably overtook it because it combined the cuteness of Maggie with the hilariousness of Moira!

OT: Already given my opinion once before, but might as well add that there's nothing I want more than a little daughter of my very own to look after =D

Edit: Since this was posted, I've seen a depressing amount of child-hating going on here. Since I can't reply and contest all of them, instead I'll simply say this: it's a normal teenage/young adult mindset to hate kids (most of my friends do) and luckily most of you will grow out of it, learning to see the very traits you claim are annoying instead to be endearing, as they should be.

Those are actually my own mother's words when I told her I hated children. Emotion based thinking man. When you feel something should be right then any logic, no matter nonsensical, justifies it.

As long as they are well behaved I like children. I always get on great with my friends' children and have fun playing with them. I would like children of my own, quite soon actually as I'm in my early 30's. It's time I quit going after party girls and find a nice woman that wants to settle down...

Oh yes I hate children with a passion. I would be perfectly happy if I never saw anyone under the age of 18 again in my life (though on second thoughts I'd be quite happy if I never saw anyone over the age of 18 either).

It's the noise that gets me, that high pitched attention grabbing wail when they don't get their way. And the size. Nothing that size should be let out of its cage.

...you do keep children in a cage, right? That's how it's done?

LOL!!!

I don't know about cages but I have seen people keep their children on leashes.
