I'm ok with the police for the most part, but nothing annoys me more than wannabe super cops that have a bug up their ass. There really is nothing worse than douchebag cops. It's a damn shame that these individuals put a bad name on the whole department. I had to deal with one of them only once and it really left me permaraged the rest of the night. I should have just filed a complaint the next day. Oh well.

And yes, I am a law abiding citizen that has no arrests, no nothing. Not even a driving ticket. These guys are just serious assholes.

The real shitty part, is that you have to assume that all cops are dickheads just because you never know when you're going to get that one police officer that just absolutely wants to fuck with everyone. Best thing you can do is to know your rights, and don't be afraid to tell the cop to take a hike when they're being unwarrantedly aggressive and infringing on your rights. Oh, and always keep a calm tone and be polite no matter how much of a shitbag the officer is. Being rude will only make your experience worse.

Of course, if you are in fact breaking the law, then you're just a dumbfuck. You don't really have any right to complain about the police in this case. "Oh gawd, fuck the cops! They arrested me and took all my weed!" "uh...yeah about that..."

Cops are people, and as such each one of them is going to be different. good cops are awesome. They keep you safe, and although they may seem like a pain in the ass if you want to light up some good reefer, overall they're a good thing. but corrupt cops who abuse their power are pretty much the closest thing to your stereotypical "bad guy" that exists.

For the most part, they are alright. Some of them need to calm down though. You're expected to act in a polite manner in the professional world, cops are not excluded. One time I made a small driving mistake, a cop pulled up by my car and started yelling at me. I admit I made a mistake, but the cop just felt like yelling at me for a couple minutes over it. It was a mistake anyone could have made. I apologized, said I screwed up, everything. But he kept yelling. I don't think he was in the wrong correcting me, but he wasn't being professional. But like I said, most cops are alright, I'm in no way anti-cops.

My father is a cop, and I like most of the police force around here (including him), but some of them I can't stand. Like that one douche who gave one of my friends a ticket because she was speeding by 5 miles/hour. (thats 8.04672000003219 kilometers for those of you not in America.)

I like them. But while I'm reading Watchmen (just got it a while a go, almost done), vigilantes would be way cooler.

Never around when you need them. Always around when you don't.
They dont exist for your convenience.

As most other people have said, most police officers (in the UK at least, I can't claim to have any experience of police anywhere else) probably just want to do their jobs, but are tarred with the same brush as the few corrupt or incompetent officers.

I think the police over here should be subject to less red tape and shit. It seems like their effectiveness is limited by political worriers. I will admit that some police just join up to beat up hippies though. Those are the guys you see laying into legitimate protesters when it just isn't needed. But hey, such is life.

I'd rather have them than not. They have a tough job, and they are generally good people. However, corrupt cops are the worst kinds of people: Dicks with power over you.

I wish those pigs would just stay away and chase real criminals. But since I'm a teenager that enjoys a drink perhaps just too much, my views are kinda skewed in one direction. They make me feel like I'm doing something wrong, though many times I am. ; )

I generally notice that people who don't like the police generally don't like them because they got caught doing something. "It's just a little pot, officer." "I was only going 10 over and there's, like, no traffic." Sometimes they seem like dicks because they're sick and tired of giving out tickets for the same thing over and over because people only want to obey the laws that they agree with. And, believe it or not, they sometimes act like dicks because they want dealing with them to be unpleasant. They want you to not break the law.

Don't blame the police for enforcing the laws that your elected officials make.

Neutral, they do their jobs like they're supposed to (most of the time), never had any problems with them really. Unless they're not upholding law or doing stupid things, like abuse their authority, etc., I don't have any troubles.

Wow I when I made this thread I didn't think I would actually have a cop post. The whole point of this thread was to see if alot of people had run into corrupted cops, to see how common it is, or too see that if I just run into the biggest dickhead of all time to be given a badge. I'm sure not all cops are corrupted I've seen a few who were helpfull but I'm still wary to trust them.
Hey, even cops love video games. I can't remember his name but there is a guy who works in MP (Military Police) on here too. Never know what you'll find. I have always made an attempt to help people[a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.78482?page=1]understand the people in blue[/a] here at the escapist. Me and two other deputies are trying to set up a program where we talk to local schools about community relations and what they can do to help, etc.

They're just guys with a badge doing their job.

You can't really ask more from them.
