If you have mature, sensible team mates (it helps if you know them personally) then a mike can be very useful.

Mics makes the game so much more fun.
But if your an idiot or annoying then I best recommend no Mics for those certain individuals.
I'm actually fine with little ones with Mics as long as their clam and don't talk too much, unlike certain sugar fueled encounters I've had.
Mature gamers are ideal.

Mics are essential if you want a competitive game instead of a bunch of people running around on their own.
If it's a team deathmatch then it probably doesn't matter but if the game mode is objective oriented you will always benefit from mics.
Play on PC and find a server with admins that ban morons, and you can avoid the mic spam.
