We all know them;
WEBSITE ads,
And the many versions;
Flash ads, banners, text ads, in video ads(like hulu), and much more.

And the may ways to block them;
Popup blockers,Ad block plus,Bfilter, ect.

but there's always a new type of ad out, talking ones, some make noise claiming your the 1,000,000th visitor. and some simple banners, that promote websites similar to the current page.

If they really need the money, will blocking ads cause problems?
should we just weekly go around click ads like it's the end of the world, to pay for our favorite sites, then block them and enjoy a uninterrupted web browsing experience?

Is the website controller just trying to pay for the site, or trying to make money off us.
What do you think???

Generally they're trying to pay for the site and maybe make a little extra on the side as a way of making their time, effort and resources spent worth it.

Flashing ads are fine. Talking ads are not, even if I unfortunately hover over them. Popup ads are not. They're intrusive. Sidebars, banners at the top, banners at the bottom or little ads with wrapped text is fine by me as long as they don't make any noise.

I don't much mind the ads at the start of videos these days either, if it keeps websites in business.

I'm okay with ads that aren't intrusive. I usually do glance down the side of websites to see if there's a link to anything good.

When I get annoyed is when they make unblockable sounds, flash lights at me, or start before the video I want to watch, forcing me to watch their mindless ad for the hundredth time. Then I get annoyed.

Kinda like a disclaimer,
I don't mind ads, along as there is more web page than ads;
some people flood the page with ads every where talking about completely unrelated stuff.

Want new curtains??? 50% off ---not so bad.

a bunch of flashing banners, slowing my browsers, so I never finish loading the page. ---bad!

I use Google Adsense myself, which means I got ads on my Let's Play Fallout 3 site [http://www.durandir.2ya.com] (>_>), and I hope none of the ads are flashing, talking or popping up. I hope people tell me if they are. Not that I have many visitors yet.

I have always hated ads, no matter what. But now that I am on the other side... I mean, I need the money. Badly. I spend time on the site, trying to make it better. The ads just sit there, and if I am happy someone sees something they want.
I also have a own page on my site where I have the more intrusive ads. But no flashing, talking or popping. 'cause those I really hate.

I'm fine with ads, unless they make noise, because there's usually no way to mute it without muting the entire computer.

The other kind I hate are the slow loading ones. The ones that load after the rest of the page is done, so that when they finally do load, it pushes the content of the site downwards, so that you accidentaly click on the ad instead of the link you were attempting to click >.<

There will always be ads, I mean the websites need cash right?
However there are afew things that are just not ok
1) Those stupid "mini-game" adds, where its just a trick to make you click
2) Flashing, or Pop Ups
3) Ads for Greencards (if you live out of the USA)

Otherwise they're fine, just a minor annoyance to ignore

Ads? What ads?

My e-surfing has become 100% more enjoyable since I started using Firefox and Adblock Plus.

Gotta have money and that's what advertisement are meant for, making money. I can usually tolerate them because they are out of view or someplace where they don't interfere with anything i want to do on a site. But then i encounter the ones that are slapped on before a video or have the talking voice that overpowers the video i'm watching no matter what i set the in-video volume at

I don't mind banner ads.

I don't click them, they can be about whateverthey want. What I am now getting annoyed at (with youtube - mainly) are the ads that start before your video. Because every time I want to see some 20 second footage - it plagues me with these advertisements...

Don't mind any other type of ads though, even pop-ups.

If adds is all it takes for a website to provide me with free stuff (stuff = the site) then by all means keep doing so. We're getting teh option to visit the sites for free, it's a whole lot better than if it was just blank.
