Poll: How Do You Feel About Zoey?

I always play as Zoey. If you were to ask any of my friends I would always play as the girl. I like it better sometimes. In an RPG my character is generally female.

I always enjoy playing girl characters in games, like in Pokemon.

It's refreshing, y'know? After so much testosterone, some estrogen running about is pretty cool. In my group, Louis is always picked last. Kind of a shame, 'cuz you can pretend to be Obama shootin' up the undead when you're him which makes for epic moments if you say "I got this," at just the right time.

I'm fine with it. All the survivors play exactly the same. I think the only people who have a problems with it are the people who are so immature that they "don't want to play a girl".

Do you play on XBL or PC? I ask because I play on Xbox Live, which is notorious for its less cultured patrons, while supposedly PC gamers are the contemplative, master gaming race.

Supposedly is the wrong word. The correct one is certainly. By "master" I mean most mature and most advanced. Nothing wrong with consoles, but the 360 has the worst community I've ever heard, regardless of age. I've never seen any problems and the question posed is sort of stupid. The Escapist is almost entirely mature, right-minded people. They don't give a shit whether they play as Zoey, Bill, Louis, or Francis.

Thanks for being condescending! Your negativity and obvious disregard for the discussions going on in this thread really add to the community. I'm glad that the Escapist's users are a mature bunch, since it would be a shame if we had to deal with trolls who liked to derail threads. My favorite part is how you ignored all of the posts where other people said they say this going on too, along with some interesting posts about peoples' reasons for disliking certain characters. I thought that opening up a forum for people to talk about why they make the character choices they do would be interesting, since we might get to talk about motives or prejudices, but on reflection, it really is "sort of stupid."

I kind of hate Zoey for the fact that my friends are jerks and force me to play as her, you know who you are.

Why is that a problem, though? Or, on a side note, why don't your friends want to be Zoey? All of the characters are really just reskins of the same model. If anything, I would think that you would have a closer affiliation with Zoey since you play as her more often. This is exactly the sort of issue that I was hoping would come about. Let me know.

i don't care whether or not most video game programmers are dudes because both sexes are allowed in on the action, guys on zombies shotguns and explosions and girls...

I like the fact the Zoey dresses like an actual human woman, rather than a skanky dominatrix with 5 square inches of clothing and two zeppelins attached to her chest. Since the game designers weren't trying to appeal to the part of men's brains that yells "BOOBIES!" every time it sees a woman, they focused on creating a likable character through dialog and terrific voice acting. It's refreshing when a game treats me like an adult every now and again.

I'd play as a woman, I have no problems with my sexuality. Hell, what's wrong with wanting to run around as a sexy woman with an equally sexy ass? Beats looking at a man's ass all day.

I play Zoey whenever possible. She's the funniest, she's the best looking, and for some reason people will constantly give you medkits when you're even slightly hurt. =P

I don't mind either way, though. Although I have the least fun playing Louis, because his voice...ugh. I mean, they had the "Token Black Guy", but they just HAD to make him the most annoying friggin' character possible.

Louis is actually my favorite. I love that Valve avoided the jive-talkin' gangster stereotype of black people and gave us a white collar worker who is optimistic to a fault ("Stay positive guys! I've got a good feeling about this!"). And let us not forget...GRABBIN PEELZ.

As a PC owner, I've seen people fight to play Zoey.
Bill gets played because of the quotes.
Louis gets played because the computer Louis is REALLY stupid.
Only Francis seems a little left out.

I've played with people who don't play as Louis or the 'black guy,' one time I played with three guys who wouldn't even let Louis leave the safe room, the other three just wailed on him with shotties, it was funny in a twisted racist way just because it was so absurd. Oh ya OP um no it's fine with me, but I play with my three friends and we all have 'our' characters mine being Bill.
