I only really eat nuts in scroggin (i.e., mixed in with sultanas, lollies, chocolate and anything else I can think of to give me lots of sugar). Unfortunately if you want to use scroggin on a hike (which is what it's actually mean for) you can't have 'em salted. Think about it, a limited amount of water plus salted nuts? Yeah, I learnt the hard way that it's not a great combination.
