I like steak every way but raw, though medium is probably my choice.

I always have it well done. Like that slight crisply burnt flavor yet still being meaty.

I have been meaning to try a medium though.

Im surprised noone has mentioned what cut of meat with their preference. While I love a nice Rare/Blue dry aged porterhouse, you wouldn't want to try a scotch fillet that way as the marbling/fatty connective tissue wouldn't be broken down enough to chew.

Medium rare. Beyond that, it tends to get too tough.
On the cool side of Medium Rare, as well. Not cool to the touch, but definitely not hot in the middle...

Kinds of depends on the place. I've been to some restaurants (okay fine it was one restaurant) where medium was basically "singe both sides, send it out".

It has a unique but vaguely chicken texture to it. I thought it was good, but nothing to go out of my way to acquire.

So yeah.

Steak grosses me out. The blood and the chewiness is just, *gag*.
Then why would you post on a thread for steak lovers? Seems like either trolling or trying to show off your assumed superiority.
Well, there was a poll option for vegetarians, so I assumed my opinion would be valid. Moreover, it's generally a poor move to vote in a poll without also including a reply. I can assure you that I was not attempting troll or show off. If I was, it would be far more obvious; I don't have a lot of experience in trolling or showing off my assumed superiority.

My mistake. I missed that option. I just assumed that if I were a vegetarian I would stay away from stuff like this. My apologies.

Medium rare of course. Wouldn't mind trying that 'blue' option sometime though. Can't say I've ever had a good steak, all the cuts we get are thinner than pork chops. And I suck at cooking steak.

Medium rare to rare, I like it to be pink and a bit bleedy.

It also has to be a thick cut to really enjoy it, thin steak is just meh no matter how it's cooked.

I'm not actually a huge fan of steak; my red meat of choice is usually a nice, hefty burger. In any case, I order my red meat in one of two ways:
1. When ordering in a restaurant that has a "medium or better" policy- a trend which an alarming number of chains are adopting: "As close to rare as you can get it."
2. When ordering in a restaurant that has a pair and allows customers to order their way: "Cook it just long enough to kill the bacteria."
