I buy all my albums digitally, but I will still generally get the entire album even if I only specifically wanted the one song, and I make an effort to listen to the whole thing through in order at least once. I say "make an effort" because I've acquired more than 140 albums over the course of maybe a year and a half, so there are a few that I haven't gotten around to listening to at all yet (though I've probably heard a few songs from the album at least prior to my deciding to purchase it), like my entire collection of Ayreon albums [small](though I've gone through his Star One project's album and the second Stream Of Passion album several times each now so you don't need to hit me prog-metal fans!)[/small].

After that initial sequential listening, I'll typically start any given album at the beginning and continue on until a fit of whimsy compels me to start listening to something else. And there are always a few tracks here or there that I just can't ever seem to let play without immediately going back to them multiple times before I finally allow the playlist to continue on with the rest of the order.

First you have to put it in a CD player and the- oh...

I see.

I listen to itunes music usually... off of my iPod, the amount of songs depend on what I'm doing.

Its all about slamming a cd into the nearest stereo system putting on full blast and listening the entire way through. Bliss.

I listen to a lot of Dream Theater, so it's a better experience listening to the whole album from beginning to end.

What the hell is a CD? (Welcome to the 201X's)

I have never and probably will never buy a complete album. I'll only ever buy individual songs, because most of the time I only like one of the songs.
Of course, that's just based on my tastes. I tend not to like bands or genres so much as individual songs, so for me there's never been a point to buying them as a set. I can find one song absolutely amazing and hate all the others, regardless of if they're the same style/genre.

I listen to the whole thing, unless I skip a song I dislike. IfI put it on my iPod later I might select particular songs that I like most, but only after I listen to the whole thing a good few times.

Weren't those some of their best known ones? Kill, I believe, was the One Tree Hill theme.

The whole thing, and then I root out the songs I don't like. It works very well for me, but it's time consuming.

I listen to my stupid collection of 1300 CDs (and 200+ LPs) straight through. Depending on the time I have when listening, of course.

I prefer to buy the whole album and listen to it all the way through. I think that's the way that people should make their music, and therefore the way people should listen. You'll also find some fantastic songs along the way that if you'd just bought the album and listened to that one song, you'd never find.

I used to be all about picking and choosing, but ever since about a year ago, I've gotten into entire albums and can't do just 1 song anymore.

Im a playlist junkie. I take the 4 songs off an album that kick ass atm (I often go back and change it up.) and play them till my ears bleed.

This. I have a few CDs, which I play through the whole album. However, I only listen to my CDs when I'm working. Every other time I'm listening to my ipod with the "skip songs" mode on.

When I actually spend money on a CD I like most of the songs, so I listen to the whole thing. Once I know the song order than I play it on shuffle so I know which song is which and can skip to my favorite. If I hate two or three of the songs on a CD I won't buy it, and because of that I have very few CDs. Go illegal downloading! If it's free I don't care and download everything.

depends really, if i bought a new album i tend to listen to the whole thing first before i burn the cd onto itunes (hoofing huge stereo FTW) to get a feel for it. Whoever if im walking down the street for example i'll set my iPod to shuffle and see what comes out or just listen to a bands section in the itunes library depending on what im in the mood for.

It's what the artist wants, I'm sure, and it sounds a little weird skipping songs on a CD because they're put in a certain order for a reason

You have to listen to the whole thing. Normally the best songs aren't released as singles as they are not mainstream enough.
