I was wondering, when you play a FPS multiplayer or even single player how do you tend to play? For example I like to play the sniper, hiding and taking shots across the map. My friend likes to run and gun, get a machine gun and try charge players. So fellow Escapists, how do you play?

When I'm given a choice, like in Mass Effect 2 for example, I go as a sniper. And even when it's not an option I play it bay staying back and going for head-shots rather, then running in with my finger firmly pressed on fire button.

Edit: ok Mass Effect doesn't count as an example because I just realized you said FPSs, but otherwise what I said.

I'm a sniper, but I play very offensively. And I use my pistol as much as my rifle.

Sneakty. Tactical. I like to let my opponents use themselves against themselves. :)
So you wait for the enemy to kill each other through friendly fire?

If it's single player I tend to err on the sneaky side. Multiplayer though, I just try to fit in best with the team which could mean I play any number of roles.

I read that as playing an engineer in TF2. My sentry doesn't go for them, they come for it.

Pretty sneakily. I'm not one to just run into a room and clear it out.

I mostly play Red Orchestra or Operation Flashpoint, Call of duty hasn't been my style latley.

Other. I don't do it sneaky like a person focusing only on that would, but I play with my friends and we always do a "low profile" thing, all use silencers and cold blooded in MW2 for example. Staying hidden and catching your enemy by suprise is key to winning most of our firefights. We always move slowly and tend to set up a position, defend it until the area is relatively secure, then move on. This does mean that the enemy will zero our position at times, but we will have already dug in so we can deal with any attacks and then counter-attack. Goes for most games we play, for example BF2.

I do a very balanced in-the-middle kit. I enjoy using the same weapons in games that I do while playing airsoft, so I usually end up with an M4, M16, AK variation or a G36 variation. Also seems like I'm the one with the AT weapon more often than not.

... I wish more games would allow for realistic kit-builds >>.

Thats a good tactic, when I stay in one place for two long I find I'll be flushed out by a grenade or killed by another sniper.

Well, since I always play cod6's sabotage.

I make a sort of perimeter around a location, and kill anyone who comes in it.

Depends on the game and map really.

In halo, I go all out tank, and just decimate people with heavy weapons, and precise headshots from close range.

In call of duty, I play more stealthy and sneaky, constantly taking flanking routes, and using the ninja and cold blooded perks to my advantage to surprise enemies, and take them from behind.

On maps that are mostly open, or long range, I'll pull out the sniper, and get some headshots in.

It really depends on the situation though, and what my team requires at the time. I can play various styles, and adapt my play as necessary (as any good player should).
Yeah Halo is interesting, cant really snipe on most of the maps, and its very hard to sneak up on people. only in that game I run and gun.

erm... sorry... it was far too tempting :p

me, I go for the sniper way of playing, I mean the real sniper way, not the designated marksman way which so many people get confused with sniping
