1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
Mostly one game at a time. If I'm playing a second game in parallel, then it either is not very story-heavy or is one that I've already played before.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Relaxed. What's the hurry? I don't speed run anything, as I've never gotten enjoyment out of that kind of play.

3) Small games vs Big games
Big games that end. I've never played an MMO (except for a couple days of a free trial of World of Warcraft. Didn't care for it). BioWare, Obsidian, and Zelda games are good examples of what I like. They are relatively big but not so much that they feel like they won't ever end. And they are focused despite their bigness.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
Mainstream. Some people look at indie games and see a wealth of creativity. I see a bunch of lazy programmers who wanted to try to make easy money by jumping on bandwagon trends. Not that there aren't truly great and creative games, but they are the vast minority. I play more mainstream games because they are at least presented well and have polished gameplay.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
Hardcore, I guess? I hate using these terms. They're not mutually exclusive.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
Single-player to the extreme. Multiplayer is just not a big part of my development as a gamer. The only multiplayer game I enjoy is Team Fortress 2. I'm thinking of trying out The Old Republic at some point, but it will be for the class stories and as a single-player experience.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
I used to wait for sales more. But I have more disposable income now, so I just go ahead and buy the games when it suits me.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
I use my 360 the most. I have a PS3 and a Wii for their respective exclusives. And I have a DS that I use sparingly. I'm gonna build a gaming PC this year.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
I usually play multiple games in my spare time. If I have a new game I focus on that one until it's finished. Back when I was still playing WoW, it wasn't the only game I played, but I couldn't fit in much other games that's true.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Mostly I'm the relaxed player. The only genre I rush through are Shooters (except the Bioshock series).

3) Small games vs Big games
I think I prefer big games, but since Skyrim, that opinion changed a bit. (sorry, not as much excited about that one as apparently everybode else :/)

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
If I search for a new game (usually on Steam), I don't think about whether it's mainsteam or indie, just if it would be fun to play for me. In general, I don't own much indie titles. I'm only aware of the "big ones" like Bastion, but appreciate their features/innovations and have as much fun with them as with mainstream games.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
If you call everything except Bejeweled, Wii Sports, Facebook/Social games etc. hardcore... then yeah you can call me a hardcore gamer. But I don't play every one of them on a hardcore level. Some I just want to enjoy, but I tend to have 1-3 games that I try to play on a "hardcore" level. For me, it is putting more effort into the game to be better in multiplayer matches, building new highscores or to play the game on the highest difficulty.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
Since I quit WoW, I usually play singleplayer games and only get into multiplayer/koop action when playing with friends.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
Every year, there are 2-3 games that I buy for the full price on release day. Anything else I think would be interesting to play has to wait till the end of the year (Steam holiday sale :p).

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
PC, but I own a console, too (Xbox360). If there is a PC version of a game I want to buy, I prefer it. Otherwise, I still enjoy some games on console.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
One game at a time, and take several years playing it at a casual pace. Skyrim should last me till 2015 or so.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Depends. If the game is crap then rushed, box tossed and disc joins the mobile of shitty games. If enjoyable, relaxed.

3) Small games vs Big games
Large game that has decent quality. I find many computer games are similiar and offer nothing new.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
Tried, tested and true. Unless its flowing with tons of good reviews I can't be bothered.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
Depends on quality of the game. Most of the time Casual.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
Multiplayer, last one I enjoyed was Guild Wars.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
Depends on reviews if the game is good I'm willing to pay full price.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform: PC

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
Multiple games of different types. When I get bored of shooting in BF3, I'll move on to building in MC. When I get bored of that, I'll move on to Dragon Age or KotOR 2, or Skyrim.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Depends on the game. In games like BF3 or Minecraft, I'll try to end the match ASAP instead of farm for points in the former, and in the latter I'll give myself a project and ignore the rest of the world until its done. In Skyrim, its a mix. I won't seek EVERYTHING out, but I'll look for a fair portion of the content and complete anything marked on my map. In Bioshock, I explore everywhere to get everything, same in ME and DA. I never farm for achievements though. That just becomes a grind.

3) Small games vs Big games
Depends on what I feel like. Sometimes I'll feel like playing a small game, but usually I'll play large games - the bigger the better. So long as they can keep a reasonable pace, I find larger games much more fun.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
Mix of both. Mostly Mainstream as I am assured a form of quality (Usually) with them, and things always look shiny, but other times there will be something from the Indie market that sounds really interesting so I'll give it a go.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
A bit of a better definition would be required for a proper answer, but Hardcore mostly, with some casual games thrown in for when I'm out and about with little time to spare.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
Both. BF3 and MC I play multiplayer, and quite often, but 90% of my other games I will play single player only on, even if given the option of multiplayer.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
Depends on the game and how much money I have, but if there is something I really want, I'll pre-order the limited edition. If I just want it, I'll pre-order the normal edition. If I think it looks interesting, but I could give it a miss, I'll buy it out of the bargain bin as soon as I see it there.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
PC. Used to do some console on the N64 and PS1-2, but the current console generation doesn't interest me, and honestly I can barely use a controller after all these years without one. The lack of proper finesse when using them really gets to me.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games: I usually only play one game at a time, but I've recently broke that trend as I play Mount and Blade: Warband multiplayer on the side while I play Skyrim as my 'main' game. But mostly, I just play one game 'til I finish it or get bored with it.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing: I generally take my time with a game as I bought it for a reason: To get as much enjoyment out of it as I can. That would sort of be a waste to just rush through it like it was a chore.

3) Small games vs Big games: I like big games myself. I just don't get much out of small games anymore. Big games that take anywhere from 50-200 or so hours are usually more enjoyable and you get more out of it.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games: The only indie game I play is Mount and Blade: Warband, which isn't all that indie anymore. So mainstream, I guess.

5) Casual vs Hardcore: Depends, really. When I play M&B: Warband multiplayer, it's only very laid-back and casual because it is, well, multiplayer. Singleplayer is different, though, as I usually take singleplayer much more seriously.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer: Well, the only game I've ever played and most likely will ever play multiplayer is M&B: Warband, so this one is an easy question.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games: Since most of the games I play are massive 50-200 hours epics, it doesn't matter too much for me. I purchased Skyrim for $80 and I've already got my moneys worth, let alone how much more I'll get out of it in the rest of my lifetime. But for a smaller game that would only last me 8-10 hours, I wouldn't pay anymore than $15 for.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform: PC. I do still have a PS2, but I haven't touched it in years. There is just much more on a PC that is suited to my likings and since RPG's and RTS games are my favourites, well, it is pretty self explanatory in that area, I guess. A big factor in this, also, is I hate console controllers. Always did, compared to the ease and comfort of a keyboard (it also gives you many options on what keys to use for what and stuff).

1) Depends on how much spare time I have. I usually stick to one game for a few hours and if I have more time to spare I move on to another.

2) Relaxed. I love to explore.

3) I prefer big games, but small ones can be very enjoyable as well.

4) Prefer mainstream, but I keep my eyes open for interesting indies. You never know.

5) Hardcore. Casual games are not my cup of tea.

6) Singleplayer. No question.

7) More of a expensive. If I *know* the game's a blast, I buy it at full price. The "meh" games can wait for a price drop.

8) PC

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
I play multiple games and none of them are MMOs

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Mixture of both. Depends on the game. Like I was playing a borrowed copy of Bayonetta. Yes I wanted every damn trophy but I also wanted to get through it as quick as possible to get it back to him so....it depends on the game. Though I am a trophy whore which explains a lot of why I have not yet finished inFamous yet.

3) Small games vs Big games
I play whatever interests me. Both small and big games.....

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
Once again I play whatever interests me, some indie, some mainstream.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
Both. It just depends on my mood for gaming

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
I despise multiplayer. I'll rarely play it. Only when I'm with a friend will I play it.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
I usually wait for a price drop. Rarely do I buy them when they are more expensive.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
I equally do PC and console gaming. I don't do more of one or the other. Though at the moment I'm not really doing any gaming. I'm a bit more focused on going through and organising my room so I don't get kicked out. And trying to find a job to achieve my goals.

1) Depends on the situation. If I recently recieved a load of games at a time I can't help but play several of them at once (unless there's one I love significantly more than the others), otherwise I always just play one game at a time. And spend pretty much all my time on it.
2) Depends on the situation I've already mentioned, if I've got several I rush it so I can finish the next (then play them slower another time), otherwise relaxed.
3) Not entirely sure what you mean, but I value quality over quantity.
4) Mainstream ones, unless there's no mainstream games I want at the moment. I'm 16, money's hard for me to come by, best for me to get what I know I'll like instead of risking disappointment.
5) If you mean difficulty, casual. People don't seem to get why, but I really don't like games challenging me. I prefer the feeling of being really powerful in games. In the most non-narcissistic way possible. >.>
6) Always single player.
7) Expensive. I'm too impatient to wait for price drops.
8) Console!

1. Usually play 1 game when I get it and between getting new games I'll play more than 1 at a time. I don't play MMOs but only because I don't have the money for it.
2. Mostly more relaxed but I do rush sometimes, generally if the game is faster paced.
3. Don't mind as long as it's good quality. Slightly prefer big games but I still play smaller ones.
4. Again a good mix of the two.
5. Usually play on higher/est difficulty and avoid casual games. That said I have been know to play casual games (not facebook games though, stuff like peggle)
6.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
I tend to play one game at a time, although I usually switch around a bit. And they're not MMO games.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
I play very slowly. I want to do everything that I can in the game.

3) Small games vs Big games
I play good games. They tend to be big games, but I don't choose based on that.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
I tend to play mainstream games, although that isn't because they're inherently familiar, and I tend to go for games that offer me new experiences.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
I don't understand the hardcore gaming thing, honestly. They're just games. I play "casual" games on my iPod when I'm out, though.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
I only play local multiplayer against my friends. I far prefer singleplayer.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
That depends on the game. More often than not, I tend to wait for the price drop, unless I want a special edition or have some other reason for wanting the game on launch day.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
Console.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games

Many. Well, a couple at a time. That's more than one, so not one at a time.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing

Depends on the game, really, but usually relaxed.

3) Small games vs Big games

No preference? Is that a valid response?

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games

Usually mainstream, but I love some of the indie titles that have made it out.

5) Casual vs Hardcore

Even your clarification doesn't help here. My casual seems to be more hardcore than a lot of the hardcore players. So Casual, I guess, but this is really a poor question.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer

I rather enjoy single player, period. Not just for the story, but for most elements. I normally only play co-op multiplayer anyway, because I'm not huge on competing with the friends who will get butthurt if I beat them or random mobs who will call me homophobic slurs if I manage to even slightly prove effective.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)

I buy the games I really want at full price, and the games I sort of want on sale or used.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:

Console. I don't like Keyboards for navigation.

So, The Escapist, how do you play your games?
On a toaster.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
I'm terrible at multitasking, so I usually play one game at a time, though I can make exceptions when it comes to multilayer-focused games (ie- League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, etc)

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
Both. It depends on the type of game I'm playing, and several other personal variables too (variables such as my mood, energy, comfort, hygiene, environment, bladd..........sorry, I've been playing a lot of The Sims lately)

3) Small games vs Big games
Big games; I always want the game I'm playing to have some depth, through it's design or presentation, regardless of the genre.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
I have no real preference, so I guess the answer is both. I don't really care all that much about who makes my video games, or how they're made; in the end, I just wanna play something that doesn't suck.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
Both; again, it depends on the type of game I'm playing, as well as my mood.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
I tend to lean towards singleplayer games, since they're the most immersive and fun to explore; however, I love multiplayer when it's done right.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
Cheap games. Gaming isn't exactly the cheapest hobby to maintain, so I usually try to avoid paying full price for games.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
Currently, it's the PS3. I also have a DS, though it only gets played with during long distance travels.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
Many games, but I dedicate a few hours or a day to each.

2) Rush playing vs Relaxed playing
Relaxed. I make mistakes and miss things when I rush through things. I don't achievement farm because that's a useless grind. In Skyrim's case, sometimes I'll search for every secret when I'm in the dungeons.

3) Small games vs Big games
I prefer big games because I have something to aim for.

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
If it's something that interests me, I'll buy it. I have more mainstream games because they're marketed more.

5) Casual vs Hardcore
Hardcore. I play Angry Birds and Shape Shift casually when I don't have much time.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
I always play the singleplayer first, and most of my time is taken playing the multiplayer.

7) Expensive games vs Cheap games
I pay full price for about 3 games every year. If there's a sale, of course I'll get it.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
PC first, Xbox 360 second.

1) Playing one game vs Playing many games
- I play as many games i can until i find The One.

2) Rushed playing vs Relaxed playing
- I finished only a few games at all. If they are interesting enough, i delay the inevitable by playing slow, checking everything what there's to check. Sometimes i become bored in the process.

3) Small games vs Big games
- No difference, but bigger usualy equals more content, more places to explore...

4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
- No difference.
Is it only me, or a few indie games entered mainstream ? Shouldn't it be small independent vs big developers ?

5) Casual vs Hardcore
- Casual. Also, heavy cheating.

6) Multiplayer vs Singleplayer
- Single. I couldn't play multi earlier (shitty Internet connection, weak computer), and now i don't feel like to.

7) Expensive games vs cheap games (games on sale)
- No difference. However there's a matter of money - i have more important priorites in life than gaming.
Doesn't #4 answer this question ? :)

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
- PC

I'm a softcore gamer. I wait for sales and usually prefer bigger games to get more worth for what I paid. They're usually single player so I can chill while I play them, but I don't play them every day. Sometimes I'll buy more than I have time to play and end up with game A.D.D though I usually like to stick to one or two I'm trying to beat.

Questions I didn't answer:
4) Indie games vs Mainstream games
You do prefer to play indie games, where you might discover something new or you do prefer to go with the more familiar mainstream?
Indie games rarely do anything new, they just tend to do old things that people forgot about with some modern upgrade. If it's good I'll still play them, but I also have this thing where I need hard copies so I rarely buy them. I wouldn't say I'm mainstream either since I don't play any of the major releases and tend to go for the niche things like Catherine. I also got Ghost Trick for Christmas and it was amazing.

8) And finally, your choice of gaming platform:
My playstations, PC and DS are pretty balanced, it depends on what kind of game I'm playing.

1) Many games. I have like 5 games at the moment I haven't touched yet and plan on doing soon.

2) I normally rush through a game first, and if I like it, I spend more time on it, relaxing, trying out new things etc.

3) Good games

4) Good games

5) I play games hardcore usually (but that's an ambiguous statement anyways)

6) I prefer multiplayer but single player is also good. I haven't really played much multiplayer lately at least

7) Good games

8) PC
