It's a simple question really, and one explored in a variety of ways in movies and other media. Now, when I say 'how the world end,' I really mean 'how will the world as we know it' and/or 'how will humanity end?' The world will still be around under most ways anyways.

So how do you think the world will end? It can be either silly or serious. And, as an added question, which is your favorite way that the world has ended in any sort of media?

Personally, I think that society will crumble due to loss of resources and we'll become a self-induced wasteland. Either that, or a nuclear war will destroy us all. Maybe, if we're lucky, it'll be fast, like the vogons taking us out in less then a second (Hitchhiker's Guide reference, yay!).

Also, I did find another thread similar to this before anyone asks, but it was 2 years old, so with all the recent worldwide events that seem to be signs of the endtimes I felt a new one was deserved.

I think society as we know it will end the moment we finally realise that the world cannot sustain the ever widening demands of a growing population. Of course we will realise it when it will be too late.

I think the world won't stop to exist, but its fairly plausible that mankind will eventually destroy itself. The world did fine without mankind for billions of years; it will remain that way after we're gone. Maybe it would be better off without us. Might be a nice horror/thriller scenario. The planet gets a consciousness and will try to get rid of mankind for its own sake.

When the Sun engulf's the Earth in it's Red Giant phase, roughly 5 billion years from now. Bit of a boring answer, but probably the most accurate.

I don't see zombies being the end of humanity. Aliens could possibly be the end of humanity however, I would think aliens would rather study us as a species weather on a large or small scale. Call me cocky but I believe that we as humanity can probably defend ourselves against an asteroid or, meteor at this point. I think the biggest threat to humanity is humanity itself. There's always the chance that we'll just all say 'fuck it' and nuke ourselves.

Of course there's always option Q: Humanity could end via technology. It could get to the point where people integrate with machines to the point that the human race becomes a race of sentient machines or, androids.

Starvation which leads to war as too many people try to live in too small of a space. I doubt society as we know it will survive another century.

Still at least the planet will survive.

Wasn't that basically the plot for The Happening?
I haven't seen it, but I think the idea was that plants release a neurotoxin that causes humans to kill themselves. That's sort of along the lines of what you seem to be thinking.

And meteors do seem a good option, at least it is if it actually is how the dinosaurs died out.

I'm sure human life will be destroyed by ourselves. We are just a stupid species that can't get over pointless crap and it will end us all.

Well there is another galaxy colliding with our one atm so I think I heard somewhere our sun is going to supernova in about 10 million years.

I vote Aliens. According to the 100% accurate predictions of the future sitting on my shelf, approximately 38.500 years from now a giant swarm of sentient locusts is coming to tear the galaxy at large a new one.

Or, you know, we could get the job done ourselves with just a fraction of the WMDs we have at our disposal right now.

Well, the world will end.. That's about as much as I have. But many, many, many million years before that human-kind as a race will be long gone.

That's what I think atleast.

I'm one of the few who actually doesn't believe humans will be the ones to end the world. I think that is a very selfish way of thinking. Life will be on Earth for a long time, and I think the ultimate killer will be a collision with an asteroid. But that will probably be long after humanity is gone.

how the world as we know it will end? well i would say in 5-10 years technological, social and political changes will have changed the world into something else.

kind of like how the world as we know it for people living in the dark ages ended when technology advanced and changed the world around them.

Mine is a combination of those two, but I think that the radiation will cause certain people to turn into zombies/vampires/werewolves/other mythical beasts. But if they were vampires, they would like Dracula, not Edward Cullen. And the werewolves would be like whoever was before Twilight.

Someone hits the Shutdown button on the "Earth" server. Quick and painless ... at least the world will have less assholes now.

I'm one of those day-dreamers who hopes that humans will live longer than the Earth (in space (obviously)). But it's inevitable that the sun will consume Earth, then die. Thank Christ I'm mortal though, cause that I really don't want to be around for that.
