We will go down when Anarachy occurs after a epidemic broadcasted by the media, "This just ends... The world will end in a week! Thanks for watching awesome news." Then some people get with friends+family to get together one last time or cry together. While others, probably myself included will go nuts, and go on a killing spree just to find out it was April the first.

A soldier on duty, named Boris, in Russia actually falls asleep and accidentaly pushes the BIG RED BUTTON that activates the nuclear arms (Yes, I would like to believe there is a big red button to launch nukes... And a self-destruct button in the facility as well). Directions of the missiles are already coded on American important locations, you know 'just in case' and several millions die. Naturally America responds by nuking the fudge out of Russia, and a bit of Iraq too for the sake of traditions. France will go 'sacre bleu!' and blast away on every other nation in the world, because they are not french, whilst England does the same because everybody elses TEA IS WEAK!... Except China, they have pretty decent tea.... etc.

You can see where I am going. A single Boris can start a butterfly-effect and take out the entire world!

Oh thank merciful god.. Finally I can say my theory on the apocalypse!

Okay, my theory is this;
You know how stars die when they hit a certain age, and how our sun IS a giant star? Scientists say that our sun is close to dying. When stars get close to dying, they expand.

So when our sun is ready to burn out, it will expand, enveloping earth in a cloak of flames.

Also, you know how Mars was said to support life? My idea on it is that it used to be in the same position as Earth, and it used to be lush and green. The sun was very young, and when it grew to it's later stage of life, it expanded, and enveloped Mars in flame, thus ending life, and pushed Earth into the life-supporting zone, therefore making Earth habitable.

So it used to be like this.
_________(Life Spot)__________________
Sun--Earth-----Mars-----All other planets.

Now it is like this:
_______________(Life Spot)________________________
Sun--Mercury--Venus--Earth---Mars--All other planets.

I got to say nuclear war.
Not that I think it will be that which kill us of, but because its the only option which can destroy mankind.

While most of the options easily could destroy civilization, only nuclear war and meteor could wipe us out.
(The aliens could do it, but I think they have better things to do.).
The other options can only kill of humanity in the extreme causes (really advanced virus/nanos, famine that kills all plants).
In most cases there will be a possibility that someone will survive, and given mankind's abilities I would say we have a good chance for recovery.

I don't think a meteor will kill us. It could, but I think we have the ability to make sure it won't hit us.

I believe that we will either be wiped out by a natural disaster, or by time.

Somehow we all get Alex Mercer-esque powers and we flip out and kill each other.

Sun expanding and swallowing the planet.
Even a giant meteor couldn't destroy the Earth.
As for us humans...
Who knows?
I'm guessing pandemic, though. Those germs are continually evolving. Something like the Spanish Flu will happen again, maybe on a much grander scale.
I can't see a global nuclear war happening anytime soon.

I voted nuclear war, but I think it'd be a result of someone pushing the wrong button.
