With regards to refering to them as "dwarves" it is the scientific name for the condition so no bias and the alternatives of "little people" and such seem demeaning. As I said earlier I apologize for any offense created.
It's not really a scientific name. There are 200 or so individual medical conditions which cause people to be short, so it's just a rather outdated observation of a common symptom. 'Short Stature' is probably the most neutral descriptive term for the condition as a symptom.

It's not demeaning to call people what they ask you to call them. I agree that it sounds demeaning to me, but if it's the term someone prefers and finds least offensive then my views don't really matter in that situation.

Oh, I thought you meant the fictional ones. Which are awesome, since they have Honeydew.
As for the real life "equivalent", they are just normal people. We get tall people as well, so what if someone is a bit short, or has a different colour hair, or is left handed. They're all people.
Except the clones and cyborgs...
Also, I wouldn't refer to them as "Dwarves".
ohhh what we were talking about small peeps or midgets or I guess they do go by dwarfs hahaha when ever I hear dwarf I think of the bearded creature who digs and caves and fights with a battle axe

i totally agree with this, but if i had to describe them as a group i would call them dwarves, as its a lot nicer than saying midgets or other degrading names.
What happen to the word "Little people"? <.<

since this is the definition for me when I think on a dwarf:

haha, i totally thought this was in regard to in-game dwarves, which are awesome. and I think real life dwarves are just as awesome, even though they do lack the epic beards.

I'm curious how people view or what people initially think when they meet a dwarf.

(All due respect to dwarves and if any take offense to this question I apologize, I mean no harm)
Wow. OK. You really did mean little people.

They're not called dwarves. Ever. And you are strange.

It depends on the dwarf. Really, they are individuals, I've only met 2 dwarves, one when I was younger, there was a dwarf living nearby, and he had a little scooter, tiny little leather jacket, long hair. He was a pretty cool dwarf, didn't let it stop him from doing what he wanted. That was back in the 80's, when there were a lot more dwarves about.

The only other dwarf I met was a friend of my grandmothers, and she was a right miserable little cow.

Time Bandits was on TV at the weekend, damn that's a good movie if you want to get your dwarf-on.

As a little person I view them as people who are for some reason on the lady side, much hotter than AP(Average Person)ladies.
also I hope I answer some questions here.

I think somebody needs to come up with a new name for people with the disorder, because 'Little People' is probably the most condescending moniker possible.

They're not bad warriors given their racials and starting increase in stamina, combine that with Stoneblood and they're probably the best Alliance tanks.

Wait... oh! Yeah, I see nothing wrong with them or anything like that. I know a dwarf, he's a pretty cool guy, it just took a little bit of getting used to, things like looking down and not being a dick.

I am 6 1/2
Tiny little human.
Well... What can i say.
Ooooh, I thought you meant 6 feet and 1-2 inches. So you're actually 6'6"?

Hail comrade, it is good to be this tall, no?
It can be but I already have back pain and a slight sternum deformity. It is probably going to get worse since i am still 16.
Nah, the worst is over. You're most likely not going to grow much more than that.

Still human, still with personalities - I can't see how they can be seen as anything different from anyone else.

I have a friend who is a dwarf. He is very good natured about it and doesn't take offense to jokes about it or anything. He is actually a firefighter and does an amazing job since he can get into places the rest of us can't. On a car accident he is very useful to get inside the vehicle and help the patient while they are being extricated. I told him once every department should have their own resident dwarf for these reasons.
