Personally i'd be pretty surprised if they only had 2 different games on the shelf.

I'd go for the hardcore game, cause lets face it games aren't ever going to die out.
was a nice little rant though.

I'd leave that store and just shop online for Legend of Mana. Seriously though, your choices aren't appealing.
Good read though. If I was forced by gunpoint then I'd choose the Hardcore title.

At least with the first option my final game would be awesome. Compared to the second option being just about the same as the first one, with the exception that my last game would be pretty boring.

Seriously, Puu sports? I don't want shit in my sports! Oh and, I don't care if it's fun for the family, I never played games with my mother, she didn't give two shits about games in general.

Well, I would go for the hardcore game, but I dislike Halo A LOT. I would go more for HL ep3 ( if it is out by then ). How do you have deep, emotional storytelling from a sequel to an unholy mating of Halo and Gears?
Anyway, on topic, I shall adopt the mantra of countless last stands " We shall live as we are, or not at all!"

Why not just give me a gun and tell me to shot myself?
And I share this guys point of view.

I wouldn't buy either - I'd buy a game for a casual gamer like myself, such as Mercenaries 3: This Time The Indians Get Nuked!

See, I hate the term 'Hardcore' gaming. A Hardcore gamer is the sort of retard that thinks any game that isn't about splattering blood all over a generic brown, grey or brown-grey landscape is crap.

I play games to unwind (and to an extent, to whore Trophies). I really don't want to get involved in a game where you have to remorise a 234 hit combo to beat the first level boss, or to get into a multiplayer battle with someone who has mastered the art of glitching grenades through the wall to spawn-frag me before I get a word in.

I want to play a game that will challenge me just enough to make it feel like an accomplishment when I win. That's pretty much all I ask for. Doesn't matter if I get that from Killzone 2 or Wii Sports.

I'm a casual gamer, and fucking proud of it. And no, casuals don't play stupid minigame fests all the time - you're thinking of "non-gamer" gamers like my parents.

I would try and enjoy gaming for as long as I can. That's why I'd buy the hardcore game. The gaming I like might die, but at least I have met its last breaths, and will live on in my heart as something precious.

On a side note, I might burn those who buy the casual games. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

OK, people seem to be having trouble with the hypothetical premise, so I'll ask the far more boring straight question...

Would you rather support "Hardcore" games that would create a great industry for maybe a decade before dying out, or "Casual" games that gradually make an industry where everyone makes simplistic 'party' games.

There isn't meant to be a middle ground. It's a Hypothetical question of extremes...

God damn people, some of you are really unable to get it. Rather than ranting on his premise, why don't you try to get into his little game, choose one or the other, justify your choice and take part in the discussion that was intended to take place in this thread. Your current contributions are absolutely useless.

Anyhow, here's my answer: I would take the hardcore game. I'd rather see gaming die than take the gimmicky direction of simple toys. Although I know that I wouldn't be completely impressed with Halo Gears, I'd still have some fun with it, which would certainly not be the case with Puu Sport 18. Of course, I'd prefer a deep and innovative game, but still, I am one of the many people who bought Halo and Gears of War, and I enjoyed them, although they will never be my favorites. And at least, these games got a nice level of polish, which Puu games almost never have. And even if the industry were to disappear, we'd always have the past to look at. Some old classics that I've never played would eventually get their chance.

I would pirate both games then use my cash to support a turn based strategy game by an independent developer. Am I doing it right now?

I vote C) supporting the real Casual Gaming genre that you refuse to acknowledge, the one where it's not about looking a prat at a party, or ULTRA-BLOOD-DEATH-RAPE-KILL-PAIN! I'd be buying the games that are innovative, unique, well-scripted and fantastically presented. I'd be supporting the Psychonauts, the Portals, the LittleBigPlanets.

Why do you refuse to accept these games exist?

Oh please, FSM, Buddha, Allah, Jesus, Gods of Hinduism, make it happen...
