Poll: How good are you at shooters? And what shooter games do you play mostly these days?

Most of the time I am only decent but on DS FPS games I am actually pretty good.

I'm fairly decent. Reflexes have dulled by years of neglect, but I can still jump into a game (any game) and make myself useful by putting holes in the bad guys.

being able to handle yourself in a shooter is sort of the universal trial for gamer skill respectability among guys, isn't it?

But yeah, I never played Quake or Doom or Counterstrike or any of those, so when I got a PS3 in spring 09 I felt I was at a disadvantage when I tried to cut my teeth at Killzone 2. After getting my ass handed to me for months (at KZ2 and then Modern Warfare 2) I've settled into a groove where I can at least help my team, and kill more than I die.

I play BFBC2 and I'm only good when I'm a medic. Most of my points come from revives which I do rigorously and heals. Whenever I get a kill with my LMG it's great, but I just love helping out the team and getting so many points for it. There's a reason I'm nearly always near the top of the leaderboard yet my K/D ratio for the match is generally about 3/11.

I suck at halo, a lot, I suck at MW2, I am decent at Gears of War.

But...I am the Doom-god I once racked up a 58 kill streak in DooM MP. It was like christmas when that game came to the xbox live arcade.

Kids raised on these "Realistic" shooters really don't understand maze fighting and the fact that yes I can dodge your uber gun, It goes "pweee" when you fire it.

The cornerstone of my childhood gaming was shooters. I grew up with platformers and the like, but as soon as the PS2 came out I was playing as many shooters as I could get my hands on; Timepslitters series, Goldeneye Rogue Agent were a couple of my starters,

I play MW2 on and off (mostly off), PDZ, Army of Two, GoW series, Halo 3, Halo ODST and a couple more.

My KDR usually involves me getting a few kills higher than deaths on average, more on an exceptionally good day.

Average, I can stand on my own but I might get those days where I got negative because of bad spawns or just something that can't be explained, cough cough nube tubes. Other than Cods, I'm ok that most shooters but I seem to get unlucky not or days.

I don't play online for various unimportant reasons, but I'm fairly decent. It does suck though when my friend dies on the first enemy on the wave in Gears of War 2 horde and I'm left with my thumb up my ass having to take a whole wave by myself, but I usually manage.

Doom 2(ports+mods)
Quake 1,2,3
Unreal Tournament (any)
Painkiller (finding people to play with is difficult)
Serious Sam First and Second Encounters (coop mostly)
Aliens versus Predator(1999) (as alien only)


I'm good at all the games listed above, simply because I've been playing them since they were released. As long as I have people to play with, I don't need anything else.

I voted the last one har har =]. I'd probably say I'm more like 5.5 but I have gotten into the "assault sniper" phase, and the funny thing is my main play style is pro spray. I'm not too good at regular sniping but mostly because I'd rather be out in the action than sitting back sniping.

I am fairly good at shooting games, mainly I play Left 4 Dead 1 and 2.

Console-wise, there are only two shooters I play:

Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System

World of Warcraft took my attention away from FPS's for too long and i've fallen from grace. Now that WoW has been stabbed.. i am getting back some forgotten tricks i once had.
I'm better at L4D then Unreal Tournament now though. I'm careful and selective on shots; unlike the old days where i'd go mental and get out the mini gun. I like being last man standing; dont care about kill/death ratio.

I vary from match to match. I might be good, great even, in one round, but in the next I might do piss poor.

Decent, I have good games and bad games. I started out sucking hard like going 3 or 5 kills and 10-15 deaths. Now I'd say I average an even or positive score. Best one so far was 25/7 (Kills/Deaths).

I'm so bad I shot my opponent at point-blank range four times with a shotgun and he didn't even flinch.

I'm never playing MW2 again.
