Poll: How good is your English compared to your fellow Escapists?

I don't think you can accurately take a poll like this from an internet forum, since the anonymity of the internet gives people the freedom and often the urge to let the normal rules of writing slide, even if they normally write everything as well as possible.
However if you meant to take a poll on how they write on these forums only, then that's fine, I just thought I'd point out that your results may be skewed by the effects of internet use.

Well, since this topic is all about comparing yourself to other posters, our forumtyping is all we got in this case. That's also the reason why I tried to let out all other ways to measure someones skill in English, like pronounciation and the ability to follow a conversation.

It's a very limited way to measure a skill like this, but happily for me this topic is about how people would ráte their English, not about how good it actually is.

My use of the language is fairly average based on what I can see on this board. I do tend to write more lengthy posts than the average forum goer though.

My general use of English (excluding, naturally, the occasional typos I don't catch) is a bit above average. My potential use of the language (whether or otherwise I utilize it) is probably above average, as it is with my grasp.

About the same if i'm honest or atleast I would like to hope. In school I was in the top english class, though I was in fact one of the people that could of been in any of the top three. As it was I was just there in the group, if I had been in the group below the teachers would of been 'meh', and the one below that they'd of just said 'ooh they're good, but not enough to get moved up'.

I just proof read that and it's boring as hell, (Mark Watson wouldn't like me saying that)if there are any typo's feel free to demote me to less than the average user ;D

Now if it where Math...I would still be about average actually, damn. Math was my forté.

Well this poll has only served to prove that the majority of the Escapists have a superiority complex over their peers here, due to the majority voting "better than average". So your poll is pretty inconclusive really.

I voted for about the same. I have atrocious sentence structure sometimes but I try to make up for it by using varied and interesting words (when I can be arsed).

This poll was about lingual skills compared to fellow readers of The Escapist, not to the general public. Unless people have misunderstood this, it seems that the majority have either underestimated the integrity of other readers, or have overestimated their own skills.

I'd say I'm better than average. Which makes me excessively happy and proud, since I'm from Argentina.
(To the people who honestly voted "less than average", you should feel proud. Your apparent lack of English skills is made up by honesty and humility.)

Generally I'd say I have an acceptable to slightly above average vocabulary, but I don't use all of the more abstract version of a simple word because it makes you sound like someone with a broom shoved so far up their arse people mistake its bristles for a moustache.

I aim to make my posts clear and coherent while making a valid point and possibly being enjoyable to read at the same time.

There's no need to use every ounce of your intellect when posting in a forum, so long as you don't end up "tlkin lyk diz". =|
