Its a good game the story player while short is fun and actually playable (unlike WaW veteran mode).

The multiplayer is fun i hate the perk system but thats just me and people still play it, you can pick up the game pretty cheap and plus if your a achievement whore its a easy 1000 gamerscore

I give it 4 stars good game overall just a tad short on story but multiplayer makes up for it abit

I would give it 5 stars, though I don't generally like rating games like that. The single player is short, true, but unlike previous CoD games, it has a good story, which rips along and throws you into a wide variety of brilliantly conceptualised battles.

Sometimes the enemy respawning system they use can get very annoying (i.e. you have to get past a certain point or be faced with a limitless supply of foes), but otherwise the single-player is pretty much flawless.

The multiplayer is great too. The maps are good (for a professionally produced game), the perk system is innovative and adds variety, and there are a number of game types that it pulls off well. Prior to picking this game up, there had been very few titles for a long while that had genuinely "wowed" me.

Personally, i played it, loved it. (great emotionally deep story, two parts actually got a reaction outta me) Multiplayer is awesome, put simply with great customization and plenty of easily tricked people online.
Then i played COD WaW, and as of now, i think that despite the upgrades WaW has, COD 4 is better, the gameplay seems cleaner and more refined, the weapons all have a use which can differ on level and opponents.
But yea, its a fun experience which is worth the full price.
My advice for online is, patience is the key. Cause many of the people who hate the game because of the 'obsessive' people who are online are the ones who charge in and get about a few hundred bullets clogged into their gut. Pick your moments wisely and you will enjoy the experience more (with a lot more satisfaction when it all works out.)

I loved the single-player campaign myself, though it was short, I found it to be pretty well written and very cinematic :)

Dont worry mate, im the same, cause of having a crate of grenades thrown at you whenever you go for cover and whenever you move you get a few hundred bullets instead kinda put me off that level completely. But that's the only level that has me stuck.

If you're asking about the single player campaign then I can tell you that CoD4 is a steaming pile of horse manure. It's not a game at all, it's an interactive movie, and all the enemies are infinitely respawning which fecks up the gameplay (not to mention the immersion). Run and gun? You'd better! Because every bad guy you down will be back in five seconds, if you hang around that long.

What on earth is the point in shooting someone if they're just going to come back to life five seconds later? Doesn't that take away the whole point of that thing in your hands at the bottom of the screen which, you know, defines the fecking genre? If real guns caused real people to just look dead for five seconds before coming back in the same place all fine and dandy then I don't think real soldiers would use them anymore. Why this logic should fail in in a video game is beyond me, but if the number of interactive movie stars (CoD4 fanboys) on the internet are anything to go by then I must be missing something.

But if you think I'm not then do yourself a favour and buy anything else.

the only thing i could have ever asked for from cod4 was more hardcore modes, so many good times.

The single player was quite good and the multiplayer was fine, apart from the people.

Only problem with the game is that it's too serious. Gets boring after awhile.

Three stars.
