Poll: How Hard/Heavy do you like your music?

Well I like the occasional song on the lower end of the scale, most of the songs I regularly listen too are at least a 5. The hardest songs I have are 9, but I might like a couple 10's. 11 is just too damn "hard" and is practically unlistenable to me.

Gorguts,At The Gates early stuff,Suffocation,Anaal Nathrakh,Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega,Darkspace,Neurosis,Demilich, Benighted, Khanate etc, sorry i cant remember much atm for some reason. There is also Avant-Garde and Industrial stuff that is really hard to digest, but it escapes my mind.

Just please dont use Cannibal Corpse, its one of the bad examples of Death Metal. Go for Death or Morbid Angel instead.

Also stuff that Wardnath links is very heavy and harsh.

The current 11 is Fleshgod Apocalypse. Should I change it? I will swap out CC for Morbid Angel though, thanks for that.

I'd use bands like Nivathe (black/doom) or Last Days of Humanity (goregrind) for the 11 spot (look 'em up on YouTube).

And I agree; Fleshgod can go a bit lower.

Fleshgod can go lower, replace with Gorguts imo

I'd say In Flames and Lamb of God are 8-9, depending on the song. Rage (against the machine, or is there another one?) would be a 7, and Bob Marley a 3.

Someone else told me about Gorguts, are they a good 11? I believe that's what it is now...

Disturbed is lighter than Deep Purple.

But smoke on the water is far too high, because if its at 5, we need a 20-30.

Look at the other examples. I think your scale is very different from this one.

I like to think I'm not into anything really too heavy at all, right now I'm listening to Four Tet who are like electro pop shoegaze.

But thinking about it more, my 2 favourite bands Crystal Castles and HEALTH are both pretty heavy at times, HEALTH esspecially. But other than that I'm not into anything heavy, give me Postal Service over Metalica any day.

I like songs anywhere from 1-about 9 or so, with the preference about 8-9. I like it heavy, but I still need to be able to understand the lyrics.
