I don't care really. I never really take time to gawk at how beautiful the sky is or how realistic that monster over shooting at me looks.

EDIT: Vote please! I like percentages. I hate math though.

Graphics are important to me, because I feel more connected with the character if she/he looks more realistic. I'll still play games with below average graphics if the gameplay and story can compensate, but I'll normally go for games with slightly above average graphics.

The story is the MOST important thing to me; if a game has a bad story, the gameplay has to be pretty damn good for me to like it. Graphics have absolutely no bearing on my opinion of it. I rank games like Majora's Mask and Super Mario World WAY above most of the bollocks out today, and not just in a 'respect the classics' way.

The fact that I still feel terrified whenever I enter a dungeon on the Intellivision version of "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" makes it impossible for me to say that graphics are important.

I care solely for gameplay. Simutrans with pak64 installed, Railroad Tycoon 2, Tropico 1...good enough for me. They play great, they're timeless. No further questions.

So which one is more important to you? The body or the face? :).

Graphics play little to no part in my choice for playing a game. A game may have the top-of-the-line graphics in it but if the gameplay is utter shit then i wont set my hand on the controller.

Graphics are kind of important, sure. But the overall funness level of I game isnt defined by the way it looks. Or at least I think so.

Where's the console options? I guess the question refers to both PC and Console graphics. Either or, I don't care about graphics, or even about gameplay. Story and Atmosphere are what's really important for me in a game, that and music. I mean the gameplay can't suck, but if it's serviceable and the story is extremely kickass I still consider the game a hit.

I've heard that even the Alienware Area-51 ALX is unable to play Crysis at the highest setting, is that true?

(The Alienware Area-51 ALX is one of the best gaming PC's out there, albeit one that costs about what? Six, seven grand?)

Well usually there's no lag when it comes to a console. Most of the time it should play games fine. Unless it's multiplayer. And yes it refers to both the PC and consoles.

I always figured that the importance of graphics depended on the quality of the rest of a game. Sure, there are plenty of sub-Crytek games I love because they offered a great gaming experience, but if i'm going to be playing some generic "shoot aliens in the face" bloodbath, it had better look good, because it probably wont have much else going for it.

I like looking at pretty graphics, but I can easily tolerate poor graphics.

Although some of the polygon 3d models from the PS1/N64 era are kind of hard too look at.

Not having up to date graphics can seriously hinder a game. Of course story and gameplay are the most crucial parts, but if a Triple A title comes out with Morrowindesque graphics, that shows laziness and a product that was rushed before it could be finished on the behalf of the developers. And therefore lowers the entire quality of the game as a whole.

So far, I've had the luck of anticipating an AAA game and not be disappointed.

Depends on the game.

For example, Fallout 3 or Arkham Asylum wouldn't be as immersive without their pretty graphics and art design.

Meh.
A game can be 8-bit for all I care, if it done right it can be good. Mega Man 9 and 10 serve as a good example.
