Definitely all about the art direction. If it feels cool to be part of that world, then that's what will really suck me into it.

I could care less about the graphics. The only thing is, if they start to impact gameplay (i.e. low frame rate, weird collision detection, etc) then I'd say its time to bump up the engine a little.

I agree about art direction but I wouldn't say that Okami and NMH had bad graphics. They had stylized graphics that were well executed and didn't look clumsy. I'm more of a passable type person; I don't want them to be distractingly bad or make it hard for me to see what I'm doing. PS2 graphics are fine by me. I'm more concerned about models and motion, you know, uncanny valley stuff. I like graphics that have character, like Okami, Psychonauts and FFVII.

I didn't say that those games had bad graphics, peoples. O_O The poll options don't scale in any way. Or atleast they weren't meant to.

I put a lot of stock in graphics- a game has to be awesome for me to overlook dated graphics.
See Majesty and Diablo

my computer isnt fantastic, so i dont need perfect graphics (crysis on medium looks great for me) however, i like it to be smooth (no jaggies) and i actually perfer indie games now, so as long as the game is artistic i dont care about the graphics

90% of the games I play now are flash games, so right now its mostly about gameplay with graphics taking a back seat. If I am buying a new game, I kinda expect a little more which is probably why I do not own a Wii(love the Wii, but I kind of see it like a pet, its fun to play with at someone elses house). So, graphics can be important to me if money is involved, not the deciding factor, but definitely a consideration.

Good graphics is important.
And by good, I mean high quality.
Stylism and realism both.

Bad graphics is bad and can only detract from the experience.
That's not to say [some game] can't be good if it has bad graphics,
It's just that [some game] would be better with better/higher quality graphics.
