Well, I have seen a lot of threads about how people like some genres, or what bands the Escapists like. However I'm curious to know just how important is music to all of you.

To kick things off, Music is like my lifeblood, it keeps me alive in a way, I listen to music while I do almost everything. I think about music, I sing, I play and I love the thrill of going to concerts, it's a unique feeling. So tell me, how much importance and what role does music take in your life?

It's a very nice way to fill the noise and keep things from staying stale or boring. Background noise, mostly. I've memorized a good few songs by heart and I can tell which song a lot of my songs are within seconds of them starting, but it's mostly just to fill the void.

Fairly important to me. Keeps me entertained, an excellent hobby and practically my only form of self-expression. And all I play is bass...

i dont listen to music at all. i just find it distracting when i try to do something yet i couldnt just sit there and listen to it cause i would get bored due to the lack of doing anything.

ironically enough though i did take flute up to grade 4 and still play it occasionally

It's not important to me. I don't even pirate it because I rarely ever listen to it. The only two bands I really love are Brand New, whose discography I own and love, and I Musici's 1988 Vivaldi discography. I only listen to other types of music when friends request it.

Music is my addiction. Seriously. If I go long enough without listening to music or singing/playing something, I get twitchy for no real reason.

It's the best way to regulate a mood, or enhance it. :)

I went years without it, I easily could again. I like listening to it, as it helps to pass the time, but I wouldn't be too bothered to have to go without it.

It helps me ignore the bus, and it helps me focus by turning my thought process off (if you lived in my head you'd understand just how necessary that it). The former ranges in importance from incredible to minor dependent on how bad the bus is. The latter's always important.

It's important to me, and I would feel a void without it, but it's not the most important thing in my life. By the time music starts becoming extremely important, I feel like a lot of people turn into "music douches," who will dismiss people's legitimate taste in music. Bands like The Jonas Brothers are much different, but telling someone they suck because they have a different taste in music is stupid and low.

Lifeblood, as my family has been musicians by generations and I'm a pianist myself.

Its very important to me verging on lifeblood status because I don't think I could go an entire day without listening to music.

If I didn't have my trance music on when I need it I would be bored 120% more than I would be with it. If I am doing something so unbelievably boring, fast music playing in my ears takes the edge of the complete monotony of what it is.

Hell, I get bored walking down a fucking street for christ sakes!

Sometimes I honestly believe that having hyperactive brain is a curse.
