I look forward to the next vid, purely for laughs.
If he likes a game, I will take his word for it that its good, but if he doesn't like a game, I'm still open to it.
Also, I already speak fast, at his speed when talking with friends who can understand, so I do find myself slipping into yahtzee speak, what with the analogies and such. But much influence? not really, no.

He gives me something to do on Wednesdays, but he's never discouraged me from trying a game that I was interested in anyway.

Talented guy.

He has no influence over me.

He is a funny reviewer, I can be a funny reviewer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.154963] too!

The guys good at what he does, and I enjoy watching him material
Pretty much this. Except I'm a terrible reviewer and use words like "gay" to describe games. Heh :(

Yeah, he's amusing, and his reviews are about getting laughs rather than just what he thinks of the games. But I suppose his attitude is "a game should be perfect, so why should I be soft on it by talking about what it gets right?"

I'm in a position to actually play a lot of what he does before his reviews come out (friends work at gamestores, I have a subscription to gamefly and large portion of my income is disposable). Generally, I find that I agree with him a lot, though not all of the time. I like his refusal to use an arbitrary numeral system to rank a game, instead doing the job of a critic and being critical, even if he likes a game.

That said, I don't rely on him for my decisions to rent or purchase and I wouldn't even if I had to pay full price for my games.

I respect him as a critic, not as a reviewer.

He influences my decisions, but he doesn't control them.

I know he doesn't like both fighting games and multiplayer games (which fighting games have to be multiplayer to be fun unless your a retarded leper child), cause i think he would be genuinely interested in either the Guilty Gear series (besides GG2 dynasty warriors ripoff), or the Blazblue series. Both have a wealth of interesting characters and imaginative gameplay (for a fighting game), but they are just simply in the wrong genre for him.

I mean, what other game where you can see a 9 foot tall doctor with a paper bag on his head fighting a perverted doppleganging robot that fights like inspector gadget? Or an amorphous blob that controls magical bugs while wearing a shy guy mask vs a vampire girl with a umbrella cat that controls the wind and lighting? And as crazy and random as that stuff sounds, the games are extremely balanced, with only a few character mismatches.

[Edit] Oh yeah, although it doesn't mean too much for a game, but those games have some of the best soundtracks ever. If you like facemelting metal that doesn't fuck around, look no further then GG and BB's soundtracks.

There isn't an option for LOVING his reviews, especially when he starts ripping on ps3 exclusives (I only own an xbox), because I can use some of his arguments against my friend haha. I never get guided by what he says, though. It's too easy to rip on things.

Where's the "I thoroughly enjoy his reviews but have entirely different viewpoints on games." option?? All of the options seem to be either, he has some influence on your opinions of a game, or you don't like him, there's no option for liking him and him not having an influence. That said, I picked the one above neutral.
Sorry for not properly representing your option. I thought people with different view points would pick the options of liking a game based on what you like and not what anyone else says. I'm a bad person... ;.;
Sorry if that came across as hostile or critical, it was not meant so.

Funny how everyone treats Yahtzee with such high regard just because he's only funny to us when we agree with him.

I never fully realized this until I noticed just how much it takes for us to find him funny if we agree with him. His jokes tend to rely on us thinking "haha! I also thought that!" or "I was thinking the same thing! Only it wasn't that funny when I said it"

I think he's hilarious, and I very often agree with what he says. Though generally I find that something we both dislike will be a game-breaking fault for him and just a niggling annoyance for me. However sometimes it's quite shocking for me how much I agree with him. And I find that as I'm getting to a point where I like less and less games and become more and more jaded I'm agreeing with him even more.

Incidentally, I am also British and also living in Brisbane Australia.

So our similarities don't end there. :O scary.

I find him funny, but I prefer to make my own opinion of a game, rather than blindly follow what someone else tells me - the same way I don't trust movie critics, because they're full of shit. If I think a game seems good, I'll try it out.

After all, it's all based on personal opinions, and a game you find awesome, I might find terrible.

He is a bit important when it comes to buying games, though so is GameSpot. I do not agree with everything though as I do LOVE Halo and whatnot. And interesting Interwebs star nonetheless.

Dude, it's cool. Don't worry about it.

Dude, I was laughing during his ridicule of Super Smash Bros Brawl, while I completely disagree with most every single insult to it.

I've honestly yet to see someone with experience in a fighting game (or any game) lose to someone who picks up the control and begins pretending to masturbate with it (besides, that would be more of an issue with all fighting games, not just Brawl).

I've actually taken the Wiimotes and threw them down the stairs and then invited some friends from high school over to play, with absolutely no simularity in the play stylings there of.

Admitedly when you've messed with the settings so much you'd swear you were suffering the effects of drugs, I'd be able to understand the whole visibility problem, but otherwise his description of the fighting actually made me wonder if he wasn't just thinking of another game.

Most Game Developers keep most of the good shit unlocked and make you play with moldy squishy diareah until you waste a few years of your life selling your soul to the game anyway, although admitedly characters ADVERTIZED ON THE FUCKING BOX don't have the right to be hidden characters.

Anyone with 3 friends and beer has no reason to find fault with the story mode (if anything, that sounds like a winning combination, that also helps to teach everyone how to play for when you're murdering eachother).

I hate the name Wii. It doesn't feel like a Nintendo Revolution, but I still hate the name Wii. And yet I like Super Smash Bros Brawl. And yet yet I'm not spamming anyone's email with hate mail. And I'm also not a fan boy. (Fuck all you people that quote this part and "lol")

So yeah, I can usually find a few things every now and then in his reviews that I don't agree with, and I'll still usually laugh my ass off about it. He's funny.
